Trevecca Volleyball | Findlay Starts Trojans Road Swing with Sweep; Breakfast at Tiffin Next

Box Score NASHVILLE - The Trevecca Nazarene University volleyball team (6-10, 3-4 Great Midwest) were swept, 3-0, on the road at the University of Findlay (11-3, 5-2 Great Midwest), on Friday at Croy Gymnasium on the Oilers campus.
 
The Oilers, who won - 21-25, 15-25, 19-25 - lead the all-time series 8-1. The win gives UF a four-match win streak for the second time in the series.
  
HOW IT HAPPENED
Trevecca opened set one with the first point and the teams hung close early on. With the set tied 7-7, Findlay scored three straight for a three-point advantage, a lead they didn't release the rest of the set. TNU closed to within one a couple of times but could never level the score again.
 
TNU tied the second set 1-1, but the Oilers scored four consecutive points for a 5-1 advantage. Trevecca didn't get within three the rest of the way in a dominate set win for the hosts.
 
Findlay led early in the third and looked to be close to putting the Trojans away. Findlay led 6-4, but TNU, in a must-win set, went on a 7-1 run for a 11-7 lead. Maddie Wilds led the surge with a side out on a kill then started her serve with back-to-back aces. The Trojans scored five straight on Wilds serve. With Trevecca leading 16-12, UF rallied to tie the set at 18-18 with a 6-2 run. Trevecca regained the lead, 19-18, but UF stormed back scoring the final seven for the 3-0 sweep – closing out the set with a 13-3 run.

TEAM REPORT
Trevecca hit just .053 and .063 in the first two sets. Combined, the Trojans had 20 kills, but 16 errors. The Oilers hit .105 and .314 in the first two sets.   
 
Trevecca hit .171 in the third, but Findlay rallied back to hit .256.
 
TROJAN PLAYER HIGHLIGHTS
Emma Titus hit .200 with 12 kills for the Trojans while adding 10 digs for the double-double. Emilee McDonald collected another double-double with 22 assists and a team-high 13 digs. Maddie Wilds had four aces on the match.        
  
UP NEXT
It is a quick turnaround for the Trojans as they stay on the road with a morning battle at Tiffin (Ohio) University. First serve against the Dragons (7-6, 2-3 Great Midwest) is 9:00 AM CT on Saturday.
 
TNU is at Kentucky Wesleyan College (2-11, 1-4 Great Midwest) on Wednesday before ending the week with a pair of home matches. First, Trevecca hosts Thomas More University (1-11, 0-4 Great Midwest) Friday (Oct. 6) at 6 PM in Trojan Fieldhouse. Cedarville University (8-5, 3-2 Great Midwest) suits up against the Trojans on the Hill at 1 PM on Saturday (Oct. 7).
