CALERA, Ala. – The Trevecca Nazarene University men's golf team opened the season at the University of Montevallo hosted Full Moon Invitational on Monday and Tuesday. The team topped its first round score a year ago at the Full Moon BBQ Invite with a ten over par 294 and followed that with a 298 on Tuesday for a 294-298=592. The team finished fourth overall and had a pair of golfer's finish in the top 20.
 
Lucas Barrett, a freshman, led the team with a two-under par 69 in his first collegiate round. Fellow freshman Maddox Burton added a one-over-par on Monday and finished in the top 20 with a 149. Alex Hamm tied for Burton for the low Trojan after an even-par-71 on Tuesday for a 78-71=149.

TROJAN INDIVIDUAL HIGHLIGHTS
Maddox Burton
Shot an opening round one over par 72 and finished his first collegiate event with a 149, good enough for a top 20 finish. The freshman collected six birdies, four in the opening round.
Alex Hamm
Hamm finished tied for 20^th overall with an even-par 71 in the final round. He had two birdies, both coming in the second round.
Zane Johnson
Johnson closed with a 74 in the final round and collected four birdies in this first tournament of the year.
Lucas Barrett
Barrett shot a two-under-par in his first collegiate round with four birdies.
William Moser
Moser contributed to the team total both days and carded three birdies.
 
The two under 69 by Barrett in the first round is the lowest Trojan round at the Full Moon since Benjamin Ramos carded a 68 in the first round of the 2021 event.

TROJAN TEAM HIGHLIGHTS
The Trojans bettered their score from a year ago by two strokes, Trevecca shot 302-292=594 at the Full Moon BBQ Invitational in 2022, also at the Timberline Golf Club.
The team had 19 birdies over the 36-hole event.
 
UP NEXT
The men return to action on October 2-3 when they play in the Kyle Ryman Invitational hosted by Tiffin University at the Mohawk Golf Club in Tiffin, Ohio.
