SERIES HISTORY/NOTES

The Chargers have the all-time lead in the series, 9-6, but the Trojans took last season's meeting on February 16, 2022, 11-7 in Alabama. The Trojans have now won two in a row.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

Trevecca got on the board first in the first inning as Joey Parliment hit a triple, then reached home on a Josh Griffin sacrifice ground out. Then the offense went quiet for a couple of innings.

The Trojans picked up where they left off in the bottom of the fourth inning. Scoring four runs to extend their lead to 5-0. Cooper Whitt scored on a Bryant Goolsby RBI single. Then Goolsby later reached home on a bases-loaded walk. Then Josh Seiler hit a two-RBI single that scored Joey Parliment and Henry Mosley to round out the scoring.

On the other end, Alabama-Huntsville's offense was limited due to Trojan pitchers Mason Wells and Nathan McKissick, as well as the Trojan outfield, as they did not allow a run in their six combined innings pitched. Alabama-Huntsville finally broke through with a solo home run in the eighth inning to cut their deficit to 5-1. Then in the ninth inning, they added a pair of runs to get within 5-3, but a pair of groundouts sealed the win for the Trojans.

CIRCLE AND BOX NOTES:

  • Josh Seiler went 2-4 with two RBIs.
  • Josh Griffin had a pair of RBIs as well.
  • Joey Parliment went 2-3 with a triple and two runs scored.
  • Mason Wells (2-0) did not allow a run on only two hits and struck out three batters in five innings pitched.
