NASHVILLE – Trevecca Nazarene University junior designated hitter Cade Martin added another major postseason honor to his breakout 2026 season after being named to the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) All-South Region First Team.
Martin, a junior from Gallatin, Tennessee, turned in one of the top offensive seasons in both the Gulf South Conference and NCAA Division II, helping lead Trevecca Baseball to the program's first NCAA Division II at-large postseason selection and a trip to the NCAA South Regional.
Martin previously earned Gulf South Conference First Team All-Conference honors after leading the GSC in batting average (.429), slugging percentage (.829), OPS (1.360), and home runs (14), while ranking second in on-base percentage (.531).
Across 45 games with 44 starts, Martin has 65 hits, 49 runs scored, 13 doubles, a triple, 15 home runs and 43 RBI while posting one of the most complete offensive seasons in program history. He recorded 18 multi-hit games, seven three-hit games, and one four-hit performance.
Among the highlights of Martin's season were two multi-home run performances, including a three-home run game on the road at UAH and a two-home run game at then-No. 1 North Greenville. He also produced a 10-game hitting streak from March 20-April 4, collecting 16 hits and five home runs during the stretch.
Martin continued his offensive surge into postseason play and entered game two at the NCAA Regional action hitting .404 with .776 slugging percentage, .505 on base percentage, and a 1.340 OPS.
During the Gulf South Conference Championship, Martin helped lead one of the most explosive offensive stretches in program postseason history. Trevecca hit 11 home runs during the tournament, including a seven-home run performance against nationally-ranked West Alabama, a game in which Martin homered as part of a 20-hit offensive outburst.
Nationally, Martin ranked among NCAA Division II leaders in multiple offensive categories throughout the season, including top-15 nationally in slugging percentage while ranking inside the top 30 in batting average and on-base percentage.
His season also placed him among the top single-season performers in Trevecca program history, finishing third in batting average and tied for eighth in home runs.
Martin collected numerous honors during the season, including Gulf South Conference Player of the Week, NCBWA South Region Player of the Week, Tennessee Sports Writers Association Player of the Week, and Trevecca's All-Sports Male Athlete of the Year award.
Martin has helped Trevecca advance to the NCAA South Regional for the third time in six years in the Chase Sain era.
