Trevecca Baseball | Trojans Invite Alumni Back to the Hill for Homecoming Gathering

NASHVILLE – Trevecca Nazarene University baseball invites former players and coaches back to the Hill on Saturday, Nov. 7, for an alumni gathering featuring seven current and former head coaches during the university's 125th anniversary Homecoming celebration.

The gathering begins at 2 p.m. CT in Zelma Waggoner Performance Hall inside the Jackson Center for Music and Worship Arts, the former Volunteer Express building.

Head coach Chase Sain welcomes alumni from every era for an afternoon with the coaches and teammates who helped make their Trevecca years special. From the program's first teams to its NCAA Division II College World Series appearance, generations of Trojans have a place in this celebration.

START THE DAY WITH TWO BASEBALL HALL OF FAME INDUCTEES

The baseball reunion follows a special morning for two Trojan alumni. Bob Amity and Chris Lowe join the Trevecca Athletic Hall of Fame during the 9 a.m. CT induction ceremony in the Boone Convocation Center, located inside the Boone Business Building.

Admission to the Hall of Fame ceremony is free and open to everyone. No invitation or ticket is required.

Amity finished his Trevecca career with a .382 batting average. Lowe collected 326 career hits and set the record with the most hits in a season.

Former teammates and coaches can celebrate their induction as part of Trevecca's largest Hall of Fame class, then continue reconnecting at the afternoon baseball gathering.

SEVEN HEAD COACHES PLAN TO ATTEND

Sain joins six former Trojan head coaches who are planning to be on campus, giving alumni an opportunity to reconnect with leaders who helped shape the program across more than five decades.

Bill Green – Trevecca's first baseball coach started the program in 1971, bringing the original Trojan teams together and creating the foundation for the tradition alumni celebrate today.

Elliot Johnson – Led the Trojans to 11 consecutive winning seasons and five conference titles, establishing a winning tradition that connected a generation of Trevecca players.

Jeff Forehand – Guided Trevecca to three 40-win seasons, including the 2005 TranSouth regular-season and tournament championships.

Chris Collins – A Trojan All-American who went from wearing the uniform to leading the program, winning TranSouth championships in both seasons as head coach.

Jonathan Burton – A former Trojan pitcher who returned to lead his alma mater and earned TranSouth Coach of the Year honors in 2011.

Ryan Schmalz – Helped guide Trevecca into NCAA Division II and led the Trojans to five consecutive Great Midwest Athletic Conference regular-season championships.

Chase Sain – Led Trevecca to its first NCAA Division II College World Series in 2021 and continues building on the work of the coaches and players who came before him.

A TRADITION YOU HELPED BUILD

Since Green's first team took the field in 1971, Trevecca baseball has recorded 1,528 wins across 56 seasons, an average of 27.3 victories per season. The Trojans begin their 57th season in the spring of 2027.

Sain enters his seventh season with 192 victories, averaging 32 wins per year. His eighth victory in 2027 would give him 200 wins as Trevecca's head coach.

Whatever years you wore the Purple and White, you helped build this tradition. Reach out to a teammate and make plans to return together. Celebrate Amity and Lowe that morning, then spend the afternoon sharing stories with the coaches and friends who were part of your days on the Hill and at Jackson Field.
