CANTON, Ohio – The Trevecca Nazarene University cross country teams competed in the 12th Great Midwest Cross Country Championships on Saturday at Pioneer Park.
The women competed on the 6000m distance while the men were tested over the 8000m course. Pioneer Park is a true cross country course with plenty of hills and presented wet and windy in Northern Ohio.
The Trevecca women finished seventh of the 14 member schools, a five-spot improvement over last season.

TROJAN WOMEN / 5K
The Trojans finished with a time of 2:02:37.22 and an average time of 24:31.5. Both times are significantly better than recent years despite being on a challenging course.
The average time for the top five is nearly three minutes better than 2022 when the team averaged 27:50. The 2021 team averaged 28:50. It is the highest finish for the women since the 2017 team placed fifth with a 24:18 average time. The 2019 team also finished seventh with an average time of 24:17.

TROJAN MEN / 8K
The men tenth (of 13) with an average time of 28:37 and a total time of 2:23:08.
The men competed at less than 100% as several members fought off colds and injuries to compete.
Joseph Garcia, who has been one of the Trojans top finishers all season, had to step off the course due to injury. The team is expected to be recovered and bounce back strong at the NCAA Midwest Regional in two weeks.
