Trevecca Baseball | Trojans Complete Four Game Sweep of Truman State

NASHVILLE – The nationally ranked No. 9 Trevecca Nazarene University baseball team (10-1) swept Saturday's doubleheader with visiting Truman State University (3-9), by scores of 8-0 (7 innings) and 18-4, on Saturday at Jackson Field.

The wins mark the Trojans' best start since the 2006-07 season when the Trojans started 16-1-1. That team won their first eight before losing their ninth outing. They rolled off another five in a row for a 13-1 record. They recorded a rare tie that put them at 13-1-1. Then picked up three more wins for a 16-1-1 mark. 

The 2014 team started 15-2. After winning their first game, they lost two straight, then rolled off 14 wins in a row.

SERIES HISTORY/NOTES

The Trojans end the four-game series with a 6-2 advantage in the all-time series with the Bulldogs.

HOW IT HAPPENED

GAME ONE: 

Trevecca came out swinging in the first inning when Jordan Jackson hit a double, then was advanced to third by a sacrifice out. Henry Mosley hit the second double of the inning to bring Jordan Jackson in for the score. Justin Campbell kept Truman at bay by not allowing a single run in the game on two total hits. The Trojans, however, got going in the fourth inning when David Milam flew out to bring in Andru Becker for the run.

The offense continued in the fifth and sixth innings when the Trojans scored six more runs. In the fifth inning, Shawn Wallwork hit a double that brought in Braden Odom in. Wallwork would be brought in himself by a fielder's choice that allowed Zeke Lecomte to reach. In the sixth, Logan West scored on an error and the Trojans added two more runs in the sixth when Shawn Wallwork and Jordan Jackson were brought in by Andru Becker. The Trojans added one more run by Henry Mosley to round out the scoring.

GAME TWO:

Trevecca continued their momentum into game two with a Henry Mosley double and a Roland Ryan sacrifice fly brought in a combined two runs. Caleb Marks came into the game in the fourth inning and picked up his first win of the season without allowing any runs on only two hits.

The Trojans sealed the win in the bottom of the eighth with seven runs highlighted by a Jordan Jackson double and a Roland Ryan three-run homerun.  

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE – GAME ONE

Justin Campbell (2-1) pitched a complete game (seven innings) and allowed only two hits and had six strikeouts.

Jordan Jackson went 3-4 with two runs scored, he also had a double.

Zeke Lecomte went 3-4 with two RBIs.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE – GAME Two

Alex Clouthier started and pitched three innings of baseball with two strikeouts. He allowed just two runs on walks and six hits.

Caleb Marks (1-0) picked up the win, throwing 2.2 innings, allowing two hits, no runs, and striking out two.

Henry Mosley joined Jordan Jackson with four hits while Ryan Roland drove in seven runs off two hits.

UP NEXT

The Trojans go on the road to face the University of Southern Indiana (3-0) on Friday starting at 2:00 PM.
