THE SERIES

Despite the Pioneers winning their first ever match last season, the Trojans picked up their fifth all-time victory and lead the series 5-1-1.

THE MATCH

A match mostly played in the middle third for the opening 15 minutes, the Trojans found themselves a goal to the good in the 17th minute. Danyel Joy won a corner kick for Trevecca after her shot was blocked. Off the service, Annie Warner then tapped home a rebounded shot to break through for the Trojans at 16:15. The Trojans backline stood tall after the opening goal, allowing Malone just two shots the rest of the half. In the 34th minute, Katelyn Keogh found the back of the net after being found by Maddie Ferrel. Similar to last Saturday's match versus Tiffin, the Trojans enjoyed a 2-0 lead going into the halftime break. The second half was kickstarted by Keogh who hit the post on her first attempt and then later collected a brace by scoring in the 52nd minute. Keogh's tally was assisted by Abbigail Legg. The Pioneers' possession decreased in the second half as they managed only three shots. Malone's best look at goal came in the 75th minute on a breakaway. With Trojan keeper Delayna Holman out of her crease, the Pioneers quickly lobbied a shot at goal, but Holman backed down the attempt and kept the clean sheet. Holman was tested only three times and she passed every test as the Trojans improved to 3-0 in conference competition.
