NASHVILLE — As the season winds down for the Trevecca Nazarene University women's soccer team, the Trojans will have ample opportunities to take advantage of home cooking. Wednesday evening marked the first of three remaining such chances, and the Trojans notched a point for the second match in a row.
Trevecca (6-4-3, 3-3-2 GSC) scored just 13 minutes into the match, but Spring Hill College (4-4-5, 3-2-4 GSC) notched a goal in the second half to draw level, and the match ended in a draw.
With three matches left for the Trojans in the 2026 regular season, Trevecca currently sits seventh in the Gulf South Conference standings. Trevecca cannot catch the teams at the top of the table for the title, but the Trojans remain in the mix for a home field match in the GSC quarterfinals. The Trojans are six points back of Union University for the final home field spot in the bracket.
THE SERIES
The match was the first ever between the two teams to finish in a draw. The Trojans had taken their first victory over the Badgers a season ago, and Spring Hill leads the series 3-1-1 dating back to 2008.
THE MATCH
Trevecca's Kaylee Maners got the first chance of the match less than two minutes into play when she put a shot on goal that was answered by SHC goalkeeper Ava Bell. Spring Hill got their first shot in the sixth minute, a try from Sofia Jimenez Garcia that was answered by Penelope Charroin.
In the 13th minute, the Trojans broke through. Trevecca built their attack up the left wing side, before a quick switch put the ball on the feet of Kylie Bradshaw on the right side of the pitch. Bradshaw fed the ball to Maners, who crossed the ball in to Anna Farrell who settled the ball and fired it home for her sixth tally of the season.
Spring Hill had a couple of chances in the wake of the Trojans' goal, but one was blocked by the Trevecca defense, and the other saved by Charroin. Trevecca had the final five shots of the opening half, and three of them forced Bell to make saves, and at the half, Trevecca led 1-0.
Trevecca pressed for three more chances early in the second half, but it was SHC who found the back of the net. In the 60th minute, SHC's Felicia Ajayi worked her way in from the left wing side, and she connected on a shot from the top of the box to the far post that tied the score at 1-1.
As the match wound down, both teams had opportunities, but Bell and Charroin were equal to the task. Trevecca ended the match with a 17-8 edge in shots, including a 10-6 advantage in shots on target, but the match concluded in a 1-1 draw.
