SERIES HISTORY/NOTES
The Trojans and Dragons series reached three games with the doubleheader, Tiffin leads the series 2-1.
HOW IT HAPPENED
GM 1
Five Trojans lined multiple hits in the win, including Joseph McNamee who went 3-for-4 with three runs scored, an RBI, and a walk. McNamee got Trevecca on the board with a run-scoring double in the second as part of a three-run inning for the hosts. Tiffin bounced back with a four-run third with just one run-scoring hit. The Dragons took advantage of a bases-loaded walk, an RBI groundout, and a sacrifice fly in the big inning. McNamee also contributed in two inning-ending double plays.
Trevecca regained the lead on a two-run double by Shawn Wallwork in the fourth only to see Tiffin tie it back up in the fifth. An error by the Dragons in the home half of the fifth put the Trojans back in front before a wild pitch allowed McNamee to scamper home to put his club up 7-5.
Following a single run in the top of the sixth by Tiffin, a two-run homer by Bryant Goolsby provided more insurance for the Trojans in the bottom of the inning.
Trevecca put the game to rest with a five-run eighth. John O'Dwyer tripled in the big frame while Trey Vanderpool had an RBI double and Jordan Jackson knocked in a pair with a double.
On the mound, Tiger Cox (1-0) picked up the win as he struck out three over 1 2/3 innings of relief work. Davis Jackson earned his third save of the season by striking out two over three scoreless innings of work.
GM 2
Tyler Werhle tossed a complete-game two-hit shutout while striking out six and walking four in a 94-pitch effort for Tiffin. The Dragons used a five-run second inning to supply the bulk of the offense. The inning was highlighted by a three-run homer off the bat of Tim Orr.
