Box Score NASHVILLE – The Trevecca Nazarene University baseball team (1-0) defeated the University of Southern Indiana (2-2), 11-2, giving first-year head coach Chase Sain his first career win. Drew Pierce (1-0) started on the mound and picked up the win. Pierce last pitched April 5, 2019 against Ohio Dominican University when he left after 3.1 innings with an injury.

The all-time series is now level, 4-4, with the Trojans win on Friday. USI swept the three-game series in 2020 in Evansville to take a 4-3 edge in the series.
HOW IT HAPPENED
In the bottom of the second Trevecca took the lead when Zeke Lecomte tripled driving in Braden Odom who reached on a single. The score held until the Trojans added six runs in the fifth and four more in the sixth for an 11-0 lead. Ten Trojans batted in the fifth. Braden Odom drove in three runs in the fifth with a double and John O'Dwyer drove in two with a single. O'Dwyer singled in another run in the sixth with a fielder's choice. Southern Indiana scored two in the ninth.
STATS REPORT
In getting the win, Drew Pierce pitched five innings allowing a hit while walking three and striking out seven. The only other baserunner reached on a hit-by-pitch.
Branden Odom went 2-4 at the plate with four RBI, two runs scored, and a double. John O'Dwyer went 1-5 at the plate with two runs scored and three RBI. Dalton Mauldin, Ethan Harrison, and Jordan Jackson all added two hits.
WHAT'S NEXT
Trevecca and Southern Indiana return to Jackson Field for a pair of game starting at Noon on Saturday. Trevecca hosts Davenport University March 12-13. The teams are scheduled for two on Friday and a single game on Saturday.
