SERIES HISTORY/NOTES
It was the seventh and eighth all-time meeting between the Trojans and Panthers, and Trevecca now holds a 6-2 lead in the all-time series.
HOW IT HAPPENED
GM 1
Ohio Dominican opened the scoring early in the first inning of game one, as Roger Danison scored on a passed ball to lead 1-0. The Trojans' big sixth inning pushed them out in front, as Jordan Jackson doubled to score Trey Vanderpool, and David Milam scored on a wild pitch for the 2-1 lead. Later in the inning, Jackson scored on an RBI single from Ethan Harrison and Trevecca led 3-1.
Ohio Dominican refused to go away in the top of the ninth, as Alex Brill homered over the left field wall, scoring Danison to tie the game at 3-3.
Trevecca found a way to walk it off in the ninth, on a RBI single by Joseph McNamee that scored Harrison for the 4-3 win.
GM 2
Trevecca and Ohio Dominican were locked into a stalemate in the second game of the afternoon until the bottom of the fourth inning, when Bryant Goolsby fired a solo shot that barely cleared the left field wall to give the Trojans a 1-0 lead. An RBI single by Braden Odom to left field that scored Harrison doubled the Trevecca lead, and steady pitching by freshman Davis Jackson in his first career start allowed the Trojans to preserve the shutout until the seventh inning. Trevecca was able to add two more runs in the bottom of the seventh, as Trey Vanderpool scored on a sac bunt by Ryan Mortensen, and Joseph McNamee scored on a SAC fly RBI by Chad Marsh.
It was 4-0 Trevecca, and the Trojans only needed three outs to preserve the shutout against an Ohio Dominican group that has averaged over 4.5 earned runs per game this season. Jackson allowed two Panther runners on base, and in came senior right-hander Tiger Cox. An RBI single by Michael McFadden scored David Silva, and Lane Marshall was able to force an error at shortstop by Trevecca to score Jace Komminsk, and it was a 4-2 Trevecca lead with the running run at the plate for ODU. Cox hung on however, for the first save of his season. Trevecca went on to win 4-2 in seven innings and get off to a 2-0 series lead.
