Box Score 2 CANTON, Ohio - The Trevecca Nazarene University baseball team (6-2, 2-0 Great Midwest) hit the road for the first time this season, playing their Great Midwest Athletic Conference opener at Malone University (7-6, 2-4 Great Midwest). The Trojans won both games of a doubleheader played at Thurman Munson Memorial Stadium.

Trevecca leads the series 10-3 and have won six in a row now in the series.
HOW IT HAPPENED
GM 1
Clay Cooper started for Malone and Drew Pierce for Trevecca.
Tyson Gingerich led off the bottom of the 1st inning with a double into left and JC Philippi drove him in on a groundout to give Malone a 1-0 lead.
In the top of the 4th, the Trojans plated three runs on three hits and one Malone error to take a 3-1 lead. Zeke Lecomte singled to right, scoring John O'Dwyer. Trey Vanderpool scored on a wild pitch. When Ethan Harrison reached on an error, Lecomte scored.
Trevecca scored a run in the 5th inning with an RBI double from Zeke Lecomte, scoring Trey Vanderpool to push their advantage out to 4-1.
Malone added a run in their half of the 5th. With two outs Joe Watts double into left to score Philippi and make it a 4-2 game.
In the sixth, Evan Balzano doubled to bring home Stone King and make it 4-3. Bryan Yoder followed with a single scoring Balzano and leveling the game 4-4.
Trevecca answered in the top of the 7th with a triple from Braden Odom and then a two-run home run from John O'Dwyer to retake the lead at 6-4.
GM 2
A pitcher's duel showed early in game two. Pioneer Cooper Davies retired the first six Trojans, but so did Brooks Helton, the Trojans starting pitcher.
The Trojans got on the scoreboard first with a solo home run from Daulton Mauldin in the top of the 3rd inning.
In the top of the 5th, Trevecca added three more runs on three hits and led 4-0. John O'Dwyer singled to score two, driving in Brian Lee and Daulton Mauldin. Braden Reece doubled next, driving in Braden Odom.
TNU got one more insurance run in the 5th on a solo home run from Daulton Mauldin to make it 5-0.
In the bottom of the 6th, the Pioneers scored a run to avoid the shutout.
STATS REPORT
Braden Odom led the Trojans with a 5-3 (.625) day at the plate with two runs scored, two stolen bases, and a triple. Dalton Mauldin added two bombs scoring two and driving in two.
Brooks Helton got the win in game two while Davis Jackson picked up the game one within relief. Helton struck out five and allowed just two hits in 5.2 innings of work. Jackson pitched four innings and sat down three Pioneers on strikes. Jay Benard earned the save in game one.
WHAT'S NEXT
Malone and Trevecca wrap up the series with another doubleheader Sunday. The first pitch from Minerva High School's Carl Michael Field is scheduled for Noon.
Trevecca returns home for a non-conference with Lincoln Memorial University on March 23 and hosts Ohio Dominican University (8-1) March 25-26 for a four-game Great Midwest series.
