THE SERIES

The Trojans improved to 5-1-2 all-time versus the Pioneers, having won the fixture played in Nashville earlier this season.

THE MATCH

Looking to keep pace at the top of the G-MAC table, the Trojans applied pressure from the very first whistle. On their first possession and run, Abbigail Legg tested the Pioneers goalkeeper with a shot just nine seconds into the match. Throughout the first half, the Trojans were searching for crisp connections and sound opportunities. Four shots and six corners in the opening 45 minutes did not result in a goal as the match was level 0-0 at the break. In the second half, the Pioneers flipped the script. Not only did they test Trojan goalkeeper Delayna Holman, but they rattled off 10 second half shots. Holman stood tall, though. Four of her five saves in net came in the second frame. Both squads went into overtime with different philosophies. The Trojans still looking for answers from their midfield, took just a single shot in the first overtime period. The Pioneers collected two more looks at goal in each overtime period, but neither team could breakthrough, however, and earned a point after 110 minutes.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

  • This was the first match of the season in which the Trojans did not score and earned a point.
  • Today's match was the fourth that needed double overtime and is the third that ended in a draw.
  • Malone outshot Trevecca 17-8, including 10 shots in the second period.

UP NEXT

The Trojans return to the Trojan Soccer Complex for a pair of home matches next week. On Thursday, G-MAC rival Cedarville University (7-4-1, 7-2 Great Midwest) visits the Hill while on Saturday, Ohio Dominican University (3-6-2, 3-3-2 Great Midwest) makes their only visit to Nashville.
