SERIES HISTORY/NOTES

Before Saturday's twinbill, Trevecca led the all-time series, 1-0, after Friday's first-ever meeting. Purdue Northwest was established in 2016 by combining the Hammond and Westville, Indiana campuses into on institution. The Pride began full NCAA Division II membership prior to the 2019-20 season.

HOW IT HAPPENED

GAME ONE

The Pride scored a pair of runs in the top of the second inning to take an early 2-0 lead, but Trevecca responded with single runs in the fourth, fifth and sixth frames to go up, 3-2. Highlights of the offensive outbursts included a solo homer by Dalton Mauldin – his first round-tripper of the season – in the fourth and a steal of home by Jordan Jackson in the sixth. However, the Pride took control in the seventh by scoring six runs to retake an 8-3 lead. Anthony Agne had a three-run triple and Nick Albanese added a two-run single of his own to key the Pride's rally. Trevecca was able to get an unearned run back in the bottom of the ninth to trim the deficit to 8-4, but Purdue Northwest closed the game out, ending the Trojans' two-game winning streak.

GAME TWO

In the nightcap, Purdue Northwest never trailed, scoring two runs in the top of the first and adding single runs in the second and third to build a 4-1 advantage after the first three frames. Trevecca got its run in the first when Mauldin reached on an error that allowed Harrison to score an unearned run. A sacrifice fly by O'Dwyer and an RBI single by Mauldin brought home a pair of runs to get Trevecca to within 4-3 after five innings, but the Pride was able to score single insurance runs in the seventh and ninth to extend their lead to 6-3 and win the series, 2 games to 1.
