SERIES HISTORY/NOTES
The Trojans and the Pride have never met before tonight's game. Purdue Northwest was established in 2016 by combining the Hammond and Westville, Indiana campuses into one institution. The Pride began full NCAA Division II membership prior to the 2019-20 season.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Trevecca got on the board first in the bottom of the second inning when Braden Odom launched a solo homer to right field, his first round-tripper of the season, to give the Trojans a 1-0 lead. The Trojans broke things open with four more runs in the third, keyed by an RBI single by John O'Dwyer and a run-scoring double off the bat of John Anderson. It stayed 5-0 until the eighth when O'Dwyer got his second RBI single of the game to make it 6-0 and Anderson blasted a three-run homer to right field to put the Trojans up, 9-0, and close out the scoring.
STATS REPORT
O'Dwyer finished up 2-for-4 with two RBI, two stolen bases, two runs scored, and a walk and Anderson went 2-for-5 with his three-run homer, double, four RBI and two runs scored to lead Trevecca's seven-hit attack. Odom was 1-for-3 with his solo homer, two RBI and a run scored, Ethan Harrison and Trey Vanderpool were 1-for-4 with a run scored and Dalton Mauldin was 0-for-3, but walked twice and scored two runs for the Trojans. David Milam reached base three times by hit-by-pitch. Chase Haley (1-0) got the win for Trevecca, starting the game and throwing six shutout innings, scattering six hits, walking one and striking out one to lower his ERA for the season to 1.96 in 23 innings of work. Jay Benard (1 IP, 1 K, 1 BB) and Tyler Koprowski (2 IP, 3 K, 0 BB) combined for three no-hit innings of relief to finish off the win for the Trojans.
