NASHVILLE – The Trevecca Nazarene University baseball Trojans (3-3) split two with Northwood University (1-2), 11-13, 12-5, to take the series at Jackson Field.

The series is even at 2-2 all time with the Wolves.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Game One:

Northwood opened the day with a three-run first and scored at least a run in each of the first five innings for a 9-3 lead after five … Trevecca scored two in the first and one in the fourth and the game seemed out of reach … the Wolves added a run in the seventh and three in the top of the eighth for a 13-3 lead … The Trojans didn't pack it in with a four-run eighth and then scored for in the ninth and had the winning run on first before being retired … Northwood produced 15 hits while the Trojans collected 10 hits but also committed three errors to help the Wolves

Game Two:

Trevecca fell behind again, this time by two runs in the top of the first … Trevecca plated a run in the second and two in the third for a brief 3-2 lead … the Wolves regained the lead with a run in the top of the fourth, but Trevecca turned the game in their favor with a five-run fourth for a 8-3 lead … Northwood continued their work at the plate with another run in the fifth, but Trevecca hit double digits with a two-run fifth and a 10-4 lead … TNU added a run in the sixth and both teams scored a run in the seventh for the 12-5 final … Northwood out hit the Trojans 12-11, but committed two errors to the Trojans single miscue …

Game One:

Four Trojans (Ethan Harrison, Trey Vanderpool, John O'Dwyer, Jordan Jackson) contributed two hits … Jackson kicked in four RBI, two walks, and a double … Harrison also had a double with two walks, two runs, and an RBI … the Trojans drew 14 walks  

Game Two:

Four Trojans (Ethan Harrison, Trey Vanderpool, John O'Dwyer, and Braden Odom) all had multi-hit games and O'Dwyer did the most damage with three hits …

O'Dwyer drove in three runs as did Harrison … O'Dwyer had two doubles and Vanderpool one … Harrison scored a run, stole base, and drew a walk … Alex Clouthier (1-1) picked up the win after starting and pitching the first five innings, allowing 10 hits, four runs, no walks, and sitting three Wolves on strikes

WHATS NEXT

Trevecca visits the University of Southern Indiana (1-2) next week for a three-game series with the Screaming Eagles who are receiving votes in the preseason Top 25. The teams have played seven times since 2016 with USI holding a 4-3 edge.

The teams played two thrillers last season. USI won 3-2 in 16 innings on March first, while the Trojans rallied to win the last meeting, the following day, 4-3.
