NASHVILLE – The Trevecca Nazarene University Baseball Trojans (27-20, 20-10 G-MAC) swept a pair of games against Ohio Valley University (9-39, 8-24 G-MAC) 11-0, 16-5, on Senior Day Friday at Jackson Field.

Trevecca celebrated its nine seniors including Sam Mang, Javier Lopez, Daniel Lankster, Braden Odom, Jake Roberson, Carrington Wilson, Clayton Moran, Jesse Peters, and Michael Brown prior to their final two games On the Hill.

SERIES HISTORY/NOTES:

Trevecca extended its win streak over Ohio Valley to eight with the four game sweep and are now 22-3 all-time against the Fighting Scots.

HOW IT HAPPENED

GAME ONE

For the first time in the series OVU did not score in the top of the first inning, instead the Trojans took the lead with two runs in the bottom of the second – Bryant Goolsby, Sam Mang, and Chandler Miller all singled to open the inning before Goolsby scored on a balk, Joe McNamee grounded out, but drove in Mang for the 2-0 lead … TNU plated five in the fourth inning – Chandler Miller drove in Sam Mang who reached on a single before Joe McNamee singled setting the table for Braden Odom's three-run home run … the final runs for the hosts came in the four-run fifth  

GAME TWO

Trevecca scored two runs in the first three innings for a 6-1 lead … OVU scored a run in the top of the third and two more in the top of the fourth … Trevecca produced a five-run fourth for the second game in a row and led 11-3 … TNU added three in the fifth … both teams scored two runs in their half of the sixth for the 16-5 final.  

PLAYER / TEAM STAT REPORT

GAME ONE

Sam Mang (2-4) and Chandler Miller (2-2) turned in multi-hit games, Mang scored twice while Miller scored a run and drive in one … Braden Odom went 1-3 with two runs scored and three RBI on his three-run home run, he also reached on a hit-by-pitch … Javier Lopez drove in two  with his hit … Joe McNamee scored twice and drive in two runs with a hit and a walk … Trey Vanderpool scored a run, stolen a base, drove in a run, walked, and pitched up a hit.

Cole Alsup pitched six innings to move to 2-1 on the year, he allowed one hit and no runs while walking four and striking out two … Ryne Caudle pitched the seventh to complete the game.

Trevecca used 10 hits and five walks to pace their offense … Trevecca played errorless ball in the field in support of the pitchers who gave up just two hits and four walks.

GAME TWO

Thirteen (13) different Trojans contributed at least one hit to the 16-hit effort … Carrington Wilson and Javier Lopez both homered while six Trojans - Trey Vanderpool, Sam Mang, John O'Dwyer, Braden Odom, Joe McNamee, and Bryan Goolsby - all hit a double … Jesse Peters hit a triple … Wilson's blast was a three-run home run … John O'Dwyer (2-3) and Dalton Mauldin (2-4) both joined Wilson driving in three runs and scored a run … Javier Lopez was the third Trojan to produce a multi-hit game going 2-3.

Tanner Killian started and picked up his first win pitching the first two innings with five strike outs, a hit, and two walks … four more Trojans pitched in the game with Tyler Koprowski striking out the side in a perfect seventh inning.

Trevecca batters collected 16 hits, one walk, and only struck out twice …  

WHAT'S NEXT

The Trojans could finish as high as second in the conference standings, but they are currently finished with their regular season. Their final seeding is in the air, but not in their control due to a few games still in the balance on this final weekend of conference play.

The 2019 Great Midwest Athletic Conference Championships are back in Mason, Ohio at Prasco Park and Legacy Field May 8-11, 2019.
