NASHVILLE – The Trevecca Nazarene University Baseball Trojans (18-16, 11-7 G-MAC) took two Great Midwest Conference games from Davis & Elkins (4-23, 4-12), 7-4 and 15-3, on Ray Thrasher Jersey Day at Jackson Field on Friday.

SERIES HISTORY/NOTES:

The Trojans own a 20-1 edge in the all-time series. This is the final meeting for the Trojans and Senators at Jackson Field before D&E leaves the Great Midwest following this season.

HOW IT HAPPENED

GAME ONE

Davis & Elkins College scored two in the top of the third, but Trevecca plated a run in the fourth … the Senators extended their lead to two again with a run in the top of the fifth, leading 3-1 … Trevecca turned the game in their favor with a five-run fifth, leading 6-3 – John O'Dwyer lead off the inning with a solo home run, Brennen Whitten tripled scoring Daniel Lankster, Justin Chauvin drove in Whitten with a SAC fly, Javier Lopez reached on an error scoring Trey Vanderpool, Sam Mang singed driving in Bryan Goolsby … Trevecca added a run in the seventh … D&E scored a run in the ninth for the 7-4 final

GAME TWO

Trevecca scored at least a run in every at-bat starting with two runs in each of the first two innings … the Trojans added a game-deciding six runs in the third for a 10-0 lead – Trevecca used five hits in the inning and batted around with Bryant Goolsby and Sam Mang homering, Goolsby's blast was a three-run home run … D&E scored three in the fourth … the home team added a run in the fourth and fifth innings and then three more in the sixth … the Senators added one more in the seventh

GAME ONE

Sam Mang went 2-4 with a double, and an RBI as nine different Trojans reached base and seven different Trojans contributed a hit … Jake Roberson started and pitched six innings for the win, Roberson is 5-4 now, and Gabriel McKeen picked up a save … the pitching duo scattered 11 Senator hits and walked just three while striking out eight … Javier Lopez was 1-3 at the plate, but scored three times and reached on a hit-by-pitch

The Senators out hit the Trojans 11-8, but committed two errors and helped the Trojans with five walks and a hit-by-pitch

GAME TWO

Sam Mang went 4-4 with four RBI, two home runs, three runs scored, a walk, and a double … Brennan Whitten homered and walked twice scoring three times and driving in a run … Trey Vanderpool tripled going 2-3 with three runs scored, a stolen base, two walks, and two RBI … Bryant Goolsby went 3-4 with three runs scored, four RBI, drew a walk, with a home run … Tyler Koprowski (2-3) started and earned the win allowing four hits, three runs, three walks, and sitting four down on strikes … Tiger Cox pitched two perfect innings of relief facing the minimum

Trevecca pounded out 18 hits and drew nine walks to fuel their 15 runs … nine different Trojans produced a hit with seven extra-base hits

WHAT'S NEXT

The four-game series with Davis & Elkins College Senators resumes with Saturday's doubleheader beginning at Noon (7 Inning/9 Inning). The Trojans visit Carson-Newman University (24-17, 6-11 SAC) on Tuesday at 1 PM. The Trojans are 2-3 vs. Carson-Newman since 2014. The team heads to Cedarville University (12-20, 6-10 G-MAC) for a four-game G-MAC series with the Yellow Jackets next weekend. The Trojans are 29-4 vs. Cedarville since 2013. The Trojans have won 17 in a row in the series.
