INDIANAPOLIS – The Trevecca Nazarene University volleyball team (11-13, 2-3 Great Midwest) lost a pair of matches at the 12th Midwest Region Crossover on Saturday at The Academy Volleyball Club. First, the Trojans lost 3-0, 12-25, 18-25, 22-25, to the University of Missouri-St. Louis (20-2, 5-2 GLVC) then 3-0, 7-25, 16-25, 14-25, to #17 Rockhurst University (17-6, 6-1 GLVC).

THE SERIES

Trevecca and the University of Missouri-St. Louis Tritons met for just the second time ever, UMSL leads the series 2-0.

Today's match is the first-ever between Trevecca and Rockhurst in volleyball.

THE MATCH

Trevecca 0, UMSL 3

Trevecca scored the first point of the match, but UMSL pulled away to a 10-4 advantage and never let the Trojans back into the set … in set two the Tritons pulled ahead 8-2, but after falling behind this time the Trojans fought back to make it a one point (10-9) set with a 7-2 run, leading 15-14 UMSL built on that advantage for an eventual 25-18 set two win … TNU led early in set three, but with the set tied 8-8 UMSL pulled ahead 17-12 and looked to take control, but the young Trojans rallied and put the set in their favor 19-18 with a 7-1 run … UMSL was able to gain control again and held off the Trojans 25-22

Trevecca 0, #17 Rockhurst 3

Rockhurst took control of the match early dominating the Trojans 25-7 with a .579 attack percentage (12 Kills, 1 Error, 19 Total Attacks) … The Trojans produced just four kills in 21 total attacks in the first set … Rockhurst hit for .314 (15 K, 4 E, 35 TA) and .438 (14 K, 2 E, 32 TA) in the final two sets … The Trojans hit for .056  (10 K, 8 E, 36 TA) and .138  (9 K, 5 E, 29 TA) …

TOP PLAYERS

Ellie Buffler led the Trojans with 10 kills and a .269 attack percentage against UMSL and nine kills and a .097 attack percentage against Rockhurst.

THE TEAM

UMSL produced a .362 attack percentage while the Trojans came in a .168 for the match … Rockhurst hit for .419 with 43 kills against seven errors over 86 attacks.

WHAT'S NEXT 

Trevecca returns home to face Great Midwest foe Alderson Broaddus University (8-15, 0-5 Great Midwest) on Friday, October 25 at 6 PM in the Trojan Fieldhouse. The Trojans are 5-3 all-time versus the Battlers.
