Trevecca played Illinois-Springfield for just the second time ever today. The first-ever match was played 12 years ago, during the 2007 season. The Trojans were victorious in three sets in that match.

Illinois-Springfield jumped out to an early 5-1 advantage in the opening set … the Stars would not relinquish the lead, boasting a first set lead of 18-5 … the Trojans pulled to within nine of a few occasions, with a Lydia Yonce (SO/Nashville, TN) for the final point of the set … UIS took the set 25-15 … a UIS error yielded the Trojans the first point of the second set … after battling back and forth early in the set, UIS captured the lead for good at 5-4 … the Trojans didn't back down, however, pulling to within two points at 15-13 … at 17-15 UIS used an 8-2 run to close out the set, 25-17 … the first four points of set three belonged to the Stars …  Trevecca rallied to pull within one at 6-5 … both teams incrementally pushed forward until 15-10, from there UIS outscored TNU 10-9 … UIS hung on to win the set and match, 25-19.

TOP PLAYERS
Madison Martin (SO/Martinsville, IN) had the best hitting percentage - .250 % (6-2-16) … Martin added five digs and a block … Ellie Buffler (FR/Nashville, TN) recorded the most kills (8), adding three digs, one assist, and one service ace … Mary Holmberg (SR/San Marcos, CA) also collected six kills, the senior also had two blocks.

The Trojans hit .157 (31 Kills, 17 Error, 89 Total Attacks) while managing three service aces, 24 digs, and 30 assists.

The Trojans finish participation in the 12th Midwest Crossover (Crossover Home) on Saturday.

At 9 AM, Trevecca faces the University of Missouri-St. Louis (18-2, 5-2 GLVC) for just the second time ever. USML bested Trevecca in five sets during the 2016 campaign.

At 3 PM, Trevecca challenges Rockhurst University (16-5, 6-1 GLVC) to wrap up the tournament. TNU and RU have never squared off before.
