Trevecca Volleyball | Trojans Battle 2nd Place Findlay; Hit Road for Final Two

NASHVILLE - The Trevecca Nazarene University volleyball team (7-19, 5-12 G-MAC) lost to Great Midwest Athletic Conference opponent University of Findlay (20-5, 14-2 G-MAC), 3-0 (15-25, 22-25, 28-30) on Saturday afternoon in Trojan Fieldhouse.

SERIES HISTORY

The Oiler extended their win streak in the series and are now 4-0 all-time against the Trojans.  

 

GAME CHRONICLE  

Trevecca 0, Findlay 3

TNU trailed by as many as four points (7-3) early, but rallied to tie the first set 8-8 and then eased ahead 13-12 … from there UF closed on a 13-2 run for the most dominating performance of the match …  UF hit for .391 (12 K 3 E 23 TA) in the opening set … in the second set, the Trojans led briefly early but again fell behind 7-4 … behind the serves of Claire Hindman and then Lydia Yonce the Trojans rallied to pull ahead 12-9 with an 8-2 run … UF turned the match in their favor with a for a 13-4 run to build a 22-16 lead … Trevecca closed to within two twice (23-21, 24-22), but could not get closer … aside from a 1-1 tie, Trevecca led the third set until Findlay tied it at 16-16 … from there neither team led by more than two until the Oilers pulled ahead 23-20 … the Trojans rallied on Hannah Bornemann's service to push the set to extra points … the Trojans faced set and match point four times and served with a set point in their favor at 28-27, but Findlay produced a side out and proceeded to collect the win with three straight points

 

TOP TROJANS

 Trevecca's lone senior, Jordan Sprinkle, led the team with seven (7) blocks and added four kills … Lydia Yonce led the team with seven kills and added two service aces, three digs, and two blocks

 

TROJAN TEAM TRENDS

The Trojans best set came in the third with 11 kills in 40 attempts and five errors for a .150 attack percentage … there were 11 ties in the third and five lead changes … the Trojans had 17 blocks to the Oilers 10

 

WHAT'S NEXT 

The Trojans conclude their season at Tiffin University Friday (11.02 | 6 PM) and Cedarville Saturday (11.03 | Noon). The Dragons are 2-1 vs the Trojans all-time and are winners in the last two meetings. Cedarville owns the series with Trevecca 12-4 with a four-match win streak currently over the Trojans. Trevecca last defeated Tiffin and Cedarville in 2016.
