NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Trevecca Nazarene University baseball team (18-14, 9-1 G-MAC) split a pair of Great Midwest Athletic Conference games at Jackson Field versus Salem International University (5-24, 1-9 G-MAC). TNU shutout the Tigers 10-0 in game one, but the Tigers jumped out and edged the Trojans 6-5 in game two. 

The game two win by Salem is their first in the all-time series. The Trojans now lead the series 10-1. The two teams are scheduled to play two games on Saturday beginning at Noon. (LIVE STATS)

Trevecca travels to Lincoln Memorial University (23-13) in Harrogate, Tenn. for a non-conference game beginning at 3 PM at Lamar Hennon Field. It is the first meeting for LMU and TNU in baseball since 2001. Trevecca coach Ryan Schmalz was an assistant with the Railsplitters prior to coming to Trevecca. (LIVE STATS)

GAME ONE RECAP

Bryan Smith (JR/Unionville, TN) pitched a gem for the Trojans with a complete game shutout and improved to 4-3 on the year. Smith pitched all nine innings and allowed five hits and a walk while striking out 11 Tigers. Griffin Ganick (SO/Brentwood, TN) (2-4), Micah Blount (SR/Birmingham, AL) (3-5), Bryson Shelton (2-5), and Zach Tomkins (2-5) all had multi-hit games as the number two through five hitters in the lineup. Tomkins drove in three and Shelton scored three. Ganick, Blount, and Shelton all had a double and Carter Wiseman (SO/Hendersonville, TN) had a triple.  Ryan Arington (JR/Cincinnati, OH) and Clay Staton (JR/Franklin, TN) each had two stolen bases. 

Trevecca scored one in the third, four in the fourth before adding two in the eighth and three in the ninth. Trevecca pounded out 12 hits and limited the Tigers to five. Trevecca didn't produce an error while the Tigers had four. 

In the four-run fourth Griffin Gannick led off with a walk. Micah Blount singled and then Bryson Shelton (JR/Powell, TN) doubled, scoring Blount and Gannick. Clay Staton reached on an error with one out, scoring Shelton. Tyler Burns (SO/Tullahoma, TN) walked and Tyran Arington scored Staton with a SAC Fly. 

GAME TWO RECAP

Trevecca fell behind 5-0 after three innings as the Tigers scored two in the first, one in the second, and two more in the third. 

The Trojans scored one in the fourth, and four in the fifth, but gave up the game-winning run in the bottom of the fifth to the Tigers. 

Trevecca had 10 hits while Salem had 11. TNU had one error. 

TNU starter John Bolton (JR/Nolensville, TN) lost and is now 4-2 on the year. 

Tyler Tichenor (SR/Centertown, KY) (2-4), Griffin Ganick (2-4), and Clay Staton (2-4) all had two hits. Staton hit a double, a triple while scoring twice and drove in two. Ryan Arington drove in a run and had a stolen base. Sam Mang (FR/Woodstock, GA) also hit a triple and reached on a hit-by-pitch while scoring a run and driving in one.
