Box Score 2 PARKERS BURG, W.Va. – The Trevecca Nazarene University baseball team (24-15, 14-2 G-MAC)Â won the opener 11-0, but lost game two, 12-9, at Ohio Valley University (8-28, 3-9 G-MAC) in a pair of Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) games at Bennett Stump Field today.

The Purple and White are now 12-2 all-time versus the Fighting Scots and saw their nine-game win streak in the series broken.Â

The Trevecca baseball team is now 75-15 in official, regular season and postseason championship, G-MAC games. Trevecca is 64-14 in regular season G-MAC games and 11-1 in postseason G-MAC games. Interesting note, Trevecca lost their very first G-MAC tournament game and have won the next 11.

Trevecca is 69-12, including non-conference meetings, against the current members of the G-MAC. What follows is Trevecca's all-time record against their fellow members of the G-MAC: Cedarville University (20-4), Davis & Elkins (12-0), Salem International (12-1), Ohio Valley (12-2), Alderson Broaddus (7-2), Kentucky Wesleyan (6-3).

In his fourth season at Trevecca, Ryan Schmalz is now 137-69 overall at Trevecca and 64-14 in G-MAC play.

The Trojans are now 14-2 in G-MAC play and are percentage points behind first place Kentucky Wesleyan College (11-1) and tied in the loss column with Alderson Broaddus University (9-2). KWC is out of conference this week while ABU is playing Davis & Elkins College in a four-game G-MAC series. Trevecca finishes their conference season with a four-game series with each of those schools. The Trojans have the weekend off from G-MAC play next week.

After starting the year with a strong schedule, the Trojans stood 8-12 after their first 20 games. Trevecca is now 24-15 and are 16-3 in
their last 19 games.

GAME ONE RECAP
Trevecca hammered out five extra base hits with three doubles and two home runs. Trevecca pounded out 13 hits with two errors. Ohio Valley had eight hits and no errors.

Trevecca scored one in the top of the first of the game scheduled for seven innings. Micah Blount (SR/Birmingham, AL) hit a solo home run with two out in the inning for the Trojans lone run.

The score remained the same until the sixth when the Trojans plated two for a 3-0 lead. Tyler Tichenor (SR/Centertown, KY) led off the inning with a single and later scored on a two-run home run by Bryson Shelton (JR/Powell, TN).

The Purple and White piled on the runs in the top of the seventh with a eight-run inning. Griffin Ganick (SO/Brentwood, TN) led off with a single and was joined on base by Tyler Burns (SO/Tullahoma, TN) who reached on a hit-by-pitch. With one gone Ethan Harrison (FR/Erlanger, KY) singled to scored Ganick. Tyler Tichenor followed with a double to score Burns. Blount hit into a fielder's choice that saw Harrison out at home. Bryson Shelton double scoring Blount and Tichenor. Zach Tompkins (SR/Mt. Juliet, TN) doubled to score Shelton. Clay Staton (JR/Franklin, TN) walked and Ganick reached on a walk to load the bases. Burns walked to force in Tompkins. Ryan Arington (JR/Cincinnati, OH) singled to drive in two more.

Four Trojans turned in a multi-hit effort at the plate. Tyler Tichenor and Bryson Shelton had three hits (3-4). Ethan Harrison and Zach Tompkins each connected for two hits. Shelton had four RBI, a double, a home run, and two runs scored. Tichenor scored twice, and RBI, and a double. Micah Blount had a solo home run and scored twice.

Ivey Starling (SR/Brentwood, TN) improved to 6-3 with a complete game shutout. Starling allowed eight hits with no walks and struck out seven Fighting Scots.

GAME TWO RECAP
Trevecca jumped out to a 3-0 lead with a three-run top of the first in the game scheduled for nine innings. Ethan Harrison led off the game with a triple. Tyler Tichenor and Micah Blount both walked to load the bases. Bryson Shelton singled to drive in two runs and Zach Tompkins followed with a single that scored the third run of the inning. Â

The Fighting Scots scored a run in the bottom of the first. The Scots tied things up with a two-run homer in the second for a 3-3 tie. It would not be the last time the game would be tied.

Trevecca regained the lead with a run in the top of the third. Tyler Tichenor led off the inning with a single then moved to third with a stolen base and a passed ball. Zach Tompkins drove him in.

Trevecca pulled ahead 7-3 with a three-run sixth. Griffin Ganick reached on an error to lead off the inning. Ryan Arington and Ethan Harrison delievered back-to-back singles. Harrison drove in Ganick and Arington. Tyler Tichenor later hit a solo home run.

OVU responded with a five-run bottom of the sixth for a 8-7 Scot lead after six.

Trevecca scored a single run in the seventh to knot the game at 8-8. Bryson Shelton hit his third homer of the series for the Trojans lone score in the inning.

Trevecca regained the lead 9-8 with a run in the eighth inning. Ethan Harrison led off the inning with a walk and Tyler Tichenor singled. Micah Blount hit safely to center to score Harrison, but Tichenor was out at third. Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â

Ohio Valley scored four in the bottom of the eighth for a 12-9 lead. The Fighting Scots drew a lead off walk before loading the bases with back-to-back bunt singles. J Carr hit one to center and it scooted past Harrison as he was trying to make the play, but it went to the wall and everyone scored including Carr.

Jon Newman (SO/Gilbert, SC) started and pitched 5.1 innings and allowed seven hits and seven runs – four earned – while walking three and striking out six. Austin Sisk (SR/Kodak, TN) came on in relief and pitched 2.2 innings and took the loss, his first of the year (0-1). Sisk allowed five hits and five runs – three earned, while walking won and striking out two.

Tyler Tichenor was 4-4 with three runs scored, a walk, an RBI, two stolen bases, a double, and a home run. Ethan Harrison was 2-4 with a triple, two runs, two RBI, and a walk. Bryson Shelton was 2-5 with a run scored, three RBI, and a home run.
