Box Score 2 PARKERSBURG, W.Va. – The Trevecca Nazarene University baseball team (23-14, 13-1 G-MAC) defeated Ohio Valley University (7-27, 2-8 G-MAC), 7-3 and 3-1, in a pair of Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) games at Bennett Stump Field.

The Purple and White are now 11-1 all-time versus the Fighting Scots and have won the eight in the series. The two teams will play two again tomorrow at 11 AM. The first game is scheduled for seven innings and game two is set for a nine-inning affair.

The Trojans are now 13-1 in G-MAC play and are percentage points ahead of second place Kentucky Wesleyan College (11-1) and Alderson Broaddus University (9-2). KWC is out of conference this week while ABU is playing Davis & Elkins College in a four-game G-MAC series.

After starting the year with a strong schedule, the Trojans stood 8-12 after their first 20 games. Trevecca is now 23-14 and are 15-2 in their last 17 games.

GAME ONE RECAP
The Trojans led 3-2 after one inning of play. Ethan Harrison, playing in center, reached to open the game with a single. An out later he moved to second on a wild pitch. Micah Blount walked and moved up with Harrison on a double steal. Bryson Shelton drove the in with a three-run home run.

Trevecca doubled their lead with a run in the third for a 4-2 TNU lead. Zach Tomkins reached on a one-out single and moved to second on a fielder's choice. Griffin Ganick doubled to drive in Tompkins.

Trevecca added two in the seventh and led 6-2. Micah Blount walked to lead off the top of the seventh for TNU. Zach Tompkins reached on a one-out single. Clay Staton did the same to load the bases. Griffin Ganick doubled to score Blount and Tompkins.

Ohio Valley scored a run in the eighth.

Trevecca added the final run of the game in the top of the ninth for the 7-3 final. Zach Tompkins singled to open the ninth and scored later on an RBI single from Ryan Arington.

Bryson Shelton provided nearly enough offense by himself with a home run, three RBI, a runs scored, two hits in five at bats. It is his second home run of the year. Shelton's three RBI pushed his season total to 30 and moved him one ahead of Micah Blount for the team lead. Griffin Ganick also had three RBI after going 2-5 at the plate and picked up his first double of the year. Zach Tompkins was 4-4 at the plate and scored three times. Tompkins also reached on a hit-by-pitch. Micah Blount went 0-2 but scored twice after reaching on a pair of walks and a hit-by-pitch. Blount collected two more stolen bases as well.

In all Trevecca had 14 hits and had two errors. Ohio Valley had seven hits and one error.

Bryan Smith improved to 5-3 on the year after six innings of work and nine strikeouts. Smith allowed four hits, two runs – one earned, and three walks. Christian Lohr pitched the last three innings to get his second save of the year. Lohr allowed three hits, one run, and had five strikeouts.

GAME TWO RECAP
Trevecca scored one in the first and two in the second then held off Ohio Valley for a 3-1 win.

Tyler Tichenor was 2-3 with two RBI and a stolen base.

Ethan Harrison was 0-2 but reached on a walk and a hit-by-pitch. Harrison stole a base and then scored on a single by Micah Blount in the first.  Blount was 1-2 with a walk and an RBI. Griffin Ganick scored the Trojans other run after reaching on a walk.

John Bolton pitched another complete game for the win and is now 4-3 on the year. Bolton allowed two hits and one run while walking one with seven strikeouts. Bolton hit two, but only faced 25 batters and managed to throw just 89 pitches.
