Box Score DEWBERRY, S.C. - In the first game of a three-game road series at Newberry College (19-8-1), the Trevecca Nazarene University baseball team (8-9) fell in the tenth inning to the host, 8-7.ÂÂ

The two will play a double header on Saturday, March 19 beginning at 11 AM. The Trojans then head to Lee University (12-12) for a single game on Tuesday, March 22.

After plating two in the first, the Trojans held a 2-1 lead until extending it to 4-1 in the top of the sixth. The Wolves took the lead with six-run sixth before TNU tied it up with three runs in the top of the ninth. Newberry scored the final run in the extra inning.

Micah Blount (SR/Birmingham, AL) hit a home run down the left field line to drive in Ethan Harrison (FR/Erlanger, KY) who doubled prior, and put Trevecca up, 2-0.

It was Blount again in the sixth inning who started things off with a walk. Patrick Reed (JR/Murfreesboro, TN) came in to pinch run and made it all the way to third on a fielding error then scored on a passed ball, 3-1. Tyler Burns (SO/Tullahoma, TN) sacrificed the hit to bring in Bryson Shelton (JR/Powell, TN), 4-1, who reached on the error prior.ÂÂ

Newberry brought in six runs on six hits and one error in the bottom of the sixth to take the lead, 7-4.ÂÂ

Shelton hit a home run over right field to bring in Tompkins, who pinch hit for Reed and was hit by a pitch, and Harrison who singled prior. The Trojans tied the game at 7-7.

Trevecca put two on in the top of the 10th and had a runner at third with one out, but could not take the lead. One run on one hit in the bottom of the tenth inning gave the Wolves the win.

Bryan Smith (JR/Unionville, TN) pitched five innings with four strikeouts, two walks, and allowed three runs on nine hits. Austin Sisk (SR/Kodak, TN) and Jon Newman (SO/Gilbert, SC) pitched the sixth inning. Jake Roberson (FR/Springfield, TN) pitched 2.2 innings with four strikeouts, walked four and let only one hit. Mason Dunn (SR/Goodlettsville, TN) pitched the final two outs walking two and allowing one run on one hit.

Micah Blount was 1-for-1 with two RBI, two walks and one run. Bryson Shelton was 1-for-6 with three rBI and two runs. Ethan Harrison was 3-for-6 with two runs and a double. Chad Sutton (SO/Independence, MO) was 3-for-5 with a double and a stolen base.
