Box Score 2 VIENNA, W. Va. – Trevecca Nazarene University (31-10, 13-3 G-MAC) split Saturday's doubleheader at Ohio Valley University (14-23, 4-12 G-MAC) on Saturday afternoon at Bennett-Stump Field. The Trojans took the opener 5-1 before falling to the Fighting Scots in game two by a 8-7 score. The Trojans remain in first place in the G-MAC standings. ÂÂ
Before the loss, in game four of the series, the Trojans had won 13-of-their-last-14 games.
With a 31-10 record, the Trojans have ten (10) 30-win seasons in the last 12 years. Coach Ryan Schmalz has opened his TNU career with back-to-back 30-win seasons. Schmalz is just the second Trevecca coach to win at least 30 games in his first two seasons. Former Trevecca coach Chris Collins won 30 games in each of his two seasons atop the program. Schmalz is 65-32 overall in his first two seasons and is 22-8 in G-MAC play. ÂÂ

GAME ONE
Trevecca opened the scoring with a three-run second and held a 5-0 lead with single runs in the fourth and fifth innings. The Fighting Scots scored their lone run in the bottom of the fifth.
In the second Luke Fennell (SR/Franklin, Tenn.) led off with a single. Jeffrey Scarritt (SO/Spring Hill, Tenn.) followed with a single and Bryson Shelton (FR/Powell, Tenn. ) loaded the bases by drawing a walk. Ethan Hurt (FR/Pegram, Tenn.) reached on a fielders choice, but drove in Fennell. Patrick Reed (FR/Murfreesboro, Tenn.) singled to reload the bases. Nick Howell (SR/Hendersonville, Tenn.) reached on a walk to force in Shelton. Tyler Tichenor (SO/Centertown, Ky) walked to score Hurt and the Trojans lead 3-0.
Fennell produced a 3-for-4 game with a run scored, and a walk. Hurt scored twice, had an RBI, and had a pair of stolen bases while going 1-for-4 at the plate. Reed was 2-for-2 with a run scored, a walk, and two stolen bases.
John Bolton (FR/Nolensville, Tenn.) (4-1) picked up the win with a complete game. Bolton allowed eight hits, a run, two walks, and sat down three OVU players on strikes. ÂÂ

GAME TWO
Trevecca smacked three home runs and piled up seven runs, but committed two errors and three late runs to fall for just the second time in their last 15 games.
In the second inning, Trevecca scored a run before giving up two to the Fighting Scots in the bottom half of the inning. OVU pulled ahead 5-1 with a three-run fourth. Trevecca evened the score at 5-5 with a four-run fifth. The Trojans pulled ahead 6-5 with a run in the top of the seventh. The hosts regained the lead with a three-run eighth. The Trojans rallied, but came up short after putting a run on the board in the ninth.
Hunter Newman (SO/Chapmansboro, Tenn.) was 3-for-5 with three runs scored, three RBI, and two home runs. Nick Howell was 1-for-5 with a run scored, two RBI, and a home run. Tyler Tichenor was 2-for-5 at the plate with a run scored. Ryan Arington (FR/Cincinnati, Ohio) was 2-for-4 at the plate with a run scored and a stolen base. Bryson Shelton was 2-for-4.
Rob Rowland (SR/Franklin, Tenn.) started and pitched the first six innings giving up seven hits, five runs, three walks, and had four strike outs. Austin Sisk (SO/Kodak, Tenn. ) (4-1) came on in relief and took the loss. Sisk allowed three hits, three runs, a walk, and had two strike outs.

Trevecca will play at non-conference game at Lee University (Live Stats/Audio) at 4 p.m. on Wednesday in Cleveland, Tenn. Since 2001 the Flames holds a 19-11 advantage in the series against Trevecca.
