NASHVILLE – North Alabama (14-13) powered past Trevecca Nazarene (16-11) 10-2 Tuesday afternoon in a non-conference game at Jackson Field. It's the second win of the season for the Lions against the Trojans as they had previously defeated TNU 10-8 back on Feb. 26.

Will Dennis led the UNA offense going 4-for-4 with three runs scored and three more driven in.  Five different North Alabama players collected multiple hits.

The Lions struck first in the top of the second as Josh Carpenter laid down a sacrifice bunt scoring Bradley Noland who had led off the inning with a triple to right center. Josh Doyle came up two batter later and doubled to left center pushing the Lions' lead to 2-0.

Trevecca got on the board in the home half of the second when Tyler Tichenor hit a grounder to UNA's shortstop who allowed the ball to get behind him scoring Hunter Newman.

That would be the closest TNU would get the rest of the way as UNA added two more runs in the third courtesy of a Dennis two-run double.

The Lions would add three insurance runs in the seventh as Carpenter scored on a passed by and Josh Cyr connected with a two-run double to right field.

Trevecca's final run came in the seventh as Mark Rayburn grounded into a fielder's choice allowing Trae Weiss to cross home plate.

Riley Sanderson (2-1) picked up the win for North Alabama as he tossed 6.1 innings, allowed just two hits and one earned run. He fanned four Trojan batters as well.

Dakota Angell (1-3) took the loss as he tossed 1.1 innings, scattered four hits and two runs.

Nick Howell, Corey Crunk, Tyler Tichenor and Newman were the only Trojan batters to collect a hit.

Trevecca returns to action March 29 at 2 p.m. as it hosts Cedarville University (10-5) in a Great Midwest Athletic Conference doubleheader at Jackson Field.  It will be the first-ever conference meeting for both teams.
