Box Score DAYTON, Tenn. - The Trevecca Trojan baseball team (15-13, 3-3 TranSouth) scored two runs in the ninth inning to come from behind for a 6-5 win at Bryan College (15-8, 1-2 Appalachian) Wednesday afternoon.
The Trojans scored first, when
Matt Tidwell's double plated
Edwin Borbon with the game's first run. But the Lions answered with a run in their half of the first, and added three more in the third to take a 4-1 lead.
But the Trojans responded, scoring three runs of their own in the top of the fourth inning to tie the game at four.
Mitch McClay and
Luke Fennell both singled and came around to score on Bryan errors, while
Trae Weiss drove in the final run of the inning with a single that brought home
Chad McDaniel. Josh Harris, the Bryan designated hitter, put his team right back on top with an RBI single in the home half of the inning that made the score 5-4 Lions after four innings.
That's the way the game stayed until the Trojans came through with a pair of runs in the ninth to get out of town with the victory. With one out,
Edwin Borbon was hit by a pitch. After a single by Tidwell,
Chad Reynolds was also hit by a pitch, loading the bases.
Mitch McClay followed with an RBI single, his third hit of the day, to tie it, and
Matt Owens drew a bases-loaded walk to bring home Tidwell with what proved to be the game-winning run.
Freshman
Justin Dailey (1-0) was outstanding in relief of starter
Blake Payton, shutting out the Lions over the final 5.1 innings for his first win as a Trojan. The lefthander from Clarksville allowed just three hits, with five strikeouts and no walks.
McClay went 3-4 with an RBI and a run, Tidwell went 2-5 with a double and two RBI, and Borbon went 2-4 with two runs and a stolen base.

The Trojans return to TranSouth action this weekend with a trip to Mid-Continent for a three-game series with the Cougars (12-7, 2-4 TranSouth). The two teams play a single game Friday at 4 p.m. and a doubleheader Saturday at Noon.
