Trevecca coach Austin Selby commented, "Sometimes meets are tough, this was one of those days. Illness hit the team and a couple of injuries combined to make a tough day. We are proud of how everyone shifted and fought through to contribute where they could."ÂÂ
 ÂÂ
"I am proud of how Luke Davis (heptathalon) and Sydney Burdge (pentathalon) performed. They competed in heptathalong and pentathalon, respectively, made up of events which we do not have equipment for them to train on in more than half of those events. Still, without those training tools and experience they still are all in to compete. We get creative in practice, but are limited. So, when a guy (Luke) says sure, I will make the pole vault work, grabs a pole 30 minutes before competition, and almost clears opening height, you are quite proud."
ÂÂ
Selby concluded, "Luke was in and out of the points the entire time in the heptathalon and in the end just missed out. We can definitely right this by conference, and it is what we will spend the spring doing.
ÂÂ
DAY TWO NOTES
Taylor Reid reached the shot put finals and earned a point to finishe 8th. Reid came in seeded 12th. Reid cut almost a full meter off of her personal record to finish four spots higher. Reid's points are historic in that these are the first points in Trevecca history in the men's or women's shot competition.ÂÂ
ÂÂ
Luke Davis completed the first ever men's heptathalon in Trevecca history. Davis finished 10th missing points in the high jump and pole vault.
ÂÂ
DAY ONE NOTES:
Sydney Burdge, in her second ever Pentathlon, broke her own school record and nearly reached the podium, just missing out on third place. Burdge improved by almost 400 points over her first-ever Pentathlon earlier this season in NYC.
ÂÂ
Luke Davis is eighth after day on in the Heptathalon, despite not clearing a height in the high jump. He has a chance to score points with a solid performance in the final three events Saturday.
ÂÂ
Trevecca sprinters - Micheala Brandt, Annelise Muphy, Matt Durham, and Ashley Walling - all set personal records on Friday.
ÂÂ
Micah Smart broke the 17 minute mark in the 5000 Meter Run. Jimmy Shultz also turned in a sub-17 minute 5K.
ÂÂ
Both Taylor Ried and Lee Wells continue to improve and reset their school-record weight throw marks.
