NASHVILLE – Trevecca Nazarene University women's soccer players Dani Witsman and Penelope Charroin earned Gulf South Conference weekly honors for the week ending Sunday, Sept. 27, 2026.
Witsman was selected as the GSC Defender of the Week, while Charroin was named the GSC Goalkeeper of the Week.
The pair helped lead a Trevecca defense that did not allow a goal during a 2-0 week, highlighted by a historic 1-0 victory over No. 9 Lee University and a 3-0 road victory at Christian Brothers University.
The Trojans did not allow a goal over 180 minutes while collecting a pair of victories and outscoring their opponents 4-0.
Trevecca's win over No. 9 Lee was the first for the Trojans over the Flames in program history.
DANI WITSMAN | GSC DEFENDER OF THE WEEK
Witsman, a junior defender from Murfreesboro, Tennessee, helped anchor the Trevecca back line during consecutive shutouts against Lee and Christian Brothers.
The Trojans opened the week Wednesday against No. 9 Lee, keeping the nationally ranked Flames off the scoreboard in a 1-0 victory at the Trevecca Soccer Complex.
Lee produced 17 shots and put eight on goal, but the Trojan defense kept the Flames scoreless.
Trevecca followed with another clean sheet Saturday at Christian Brothers, earning a 3-0 victory at Signaigo Field in Memphis.
The Buccaneers finished with 10 shots, including five on goal, but again could not break through the Trevecca defense.
Witsman and the Trojan back line finished the week with 180 consecutive scoreless minutes while Trevecca collected two victories.
PENELOPE CHARROIN | GSC GOALKEEPER OF THE WEEK
Charroin produced consecutive shutouts in goal during Trevecca's 2-0 week.
She opened the week with a clean sheet against No. 9 Lee, turning away eight shots on goal as the Trojans earned their first victory over the Flames.
Charroin returned to goal Saturday at Christian Brothers and recorded five saves in Trevecca's 3-0 victory.
The two performances gave Charroin 13 saves and 180 scoreless minutes during the week.
Charroin has three shutouts this season, with all three coming in Trevecca victories. She also recorded a clean sheet in the Trojans' 1-0 victory over Illinois Springfield on Aug. 30.
Witsman and Charroin are the first Trevecca women's soccer players to earn a GSC weekly award during the 2026 season.

Trevecca steps out of Gulf South Conference play Wednesday, Sept. 30, when the Trojans visit Tusculum University at Pioneer Field in Greeneville, Tennessee.
Kickoff is scheduled for 5 p.m.
The match concludes a stretch of three consecutive matches in eight days for the Trojans.
Trevecca enters the Tusculum match following consecutive shutout victories over No. 9 Lee and Christian Brothers. The Trojans have outscored their opponents 4-0 during the two-match winning streak.
Following Wednesday's nonconference match, Trevecca returns home and resumes Gulf South Conference play Saturday, Oct. 3, against Delta State University at the Trevecca Soccer Pitch. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m.
