NASHVILLE – Ernie Reynolds, who guided Trevecca softball to back-to-back 50-win seasons and two NAIA National Tournament Final Five finishes in four seasons, is the newest member of the 2026 Trevecca Athletic Hall of Fame Class.
Trevecca Athletics officially announces Reynolds as the fifth member of the 2026 Trevecca Athletic Hall of Fame Class.
The 2026 Class is scheduled to be inducted during Trevecca's Homecoming Weekend, Nov. 6-7.
The 2026-27 school year marks the 125th anniversary of Trevecca's founding in 1901, adding significance to a Hall of Fame class connected to multiple eras of Trevecca Athletics history.
The 2026 Trevecca Athletic Hall of Fame Class will be the largest class in the history of Trevecca Athletics, celebrating the rich Trojan history during the 125th Trevecca Anniversary Celebration.
REYNOLDS RESUME
Reynolds served as the head coach of the Trevecca softball program for four seasons and produced one of the most successful stretches in program history. He finished with a 196-44 overall record, an 83-15 conference record, and a 32-15 postseason record.
His .808 overall winning percentage and .847 conference winning percentage made him the winningest coach in Trevecca softball history by winning percentage. He also finished his career at Trevecca with the most wins in program history at the time.
Reynolds led Trevecca to four consecutive TranSouth Athletic Conference regular-season titles, three consecutive TranSouth Tournament titles, and three consecutive NAIA Region XI Tournament championships.
Reynolds led three Trevecca teams to the NAIA National Tournament, the first three appearances in program history. The 2006, 2007, and 2008 teams all advanced to the NAIA Nationals after winning consecutive Region XI Tournament championships.
All three national tournament teams reached the NAIA Tournament Final Eight, and two advanced to the Final Five. His final three teams combined to go 31-11 in postseason play, a .738 postseason winning percentage.
SEASON-BY-SEASON
In his first season, Reynolds led Trevecca to a new season wins record with 37 victories in 2005. The Trojans finished 37-9 overall and 11-5 in conference play. It was just the third 30-win season in program history and marked the start of a four-year run of TranSouth regular-season championships.
In 2006, Reynolds and the Trojans broke the season wins record for the second consecutive year, raising the mark by 10 victories with a 47-win season. Trevecca went 47-15 overall, 11-5 in conference play, and 10-3 in the postseason.
The 2006 team began Trevecca's run of three consecutive NAIA National Tournament appearances, three consecutive Region XI Tournament titles, and three consecutive TranSouth Tournament titles. Reynolds earned NAIA Region XI Coach of the Year and TranSouth Coach of the Year honors.
In 2007, Reynolds and the Trojans produced one of the best seasons in program history, finishing 59-11 overall and No. 5 in the final NAIA poll. Trevecca went 29-3 in conference play and 11-4 in the postseason.
The 2007 team broke the program season wins record by 12 victories and became the first 50-win team in Trevecca softball history. Reynolds was named NAIA Region XI Coach of the Year for the second consecutive season.
In Reynolds' final season, 2008, Trevecca went 53-9 overall and produced the program's second 50-win season. The Trojans finished 32-2 in conference play and 10-4 in the postseason while entering the NAIA Championships as the No. 4 seed.
The 2008 team joined the 2007 team as the only two 50-win teams in Trevecca softball history. Reynolds earned NAIA Region XI Coach of the Year and TranSouth Coach of the Year honors.

The 2007 and 2008 teams combined to go 112-20 overall, an .848 winning percentage, and 61-5 in TranSouth play, a .924 conference winning percentage.
As of 2026, Reynolds' teams accounted for three of Trevecca softball's 40-win seasons. In comparison, the other 31 Trevecca teams combined for five 40-win seasons.
Offensively, his four teams ranked No. 1, No. 2, No. 4 and No. 6 among the top hitting teams in the NAIA era.
The 2007 team hit .343 and set all-time program records with 67 home runs, 116 doubles, 402 RBI and 443 runs. That team also produced 163 stolen bases, the second-most in program history, drew 131 walks and added 14 triples.
The production extended to the circle, where the Trojans posted the third-lowest ERA in program history at 1.56, with 11 shutouts and 499 strikeouts.
During his four seasons, Reynolds' program produced seven NAIA All-Americans, two NAIA All-Tournament selections, one Adidas Golden Shoe winner and four NAIA Scholar-Athletes.
His student-athletes earned 16 NAIA Region XI First-Team selections, four NAIA Region XI Second-Team selections, three Region XI Pitcher of the Year honors, two Region XI Player of the Year honors, 18 TranSouth First-Team selections, nine TranSouth Second-Team selections, two TranSouth Player of the Year honors, three TranSouth Pitcher of the Year honors, one TranSouth Freshman of the Year and one TranSouth Newcomer of the Year.
Reynolds also coached 20 TranSouth Scholar-Athletes while his players earned numerous TranSouth, Region XI and NAIA weekly honors.
Reynolds earned NAIA Region XI Coach of the Year honors three times, in 2006, 2007 and 2008. He was named TranSouth Athletic Conference Coach of the Year twice, in 2006 and 2008.
BEFORE TREVECCA
Before Trevecca, Reynolds attended Furman University and graduated from Belmont University with a bachelor's degree in business administration and a master's in teaching.
His coaching experience included two stops with NCAA Division I programs, serving as the top assistant at Middle Tennessee State University and as the volunteer assistant at Tennessee State University.
At Middle Tennessee, Reynolds recruited the Sun Belt Player of the Year, Freshman of the Year, a first-team junior college All-American, transfers from the Big Ten and SEC, and two of Tennessee's most highly rated high school players. During each of his two years at Middle Tennessee, the Blue Raiders finished second in the Sun Belt Conference Tournament.
On the high school level, Reynolds was the non-faculty head coach at Brentwood High School. He led the Bruins to a 3A Regional Championship and an overall .714 winning percentage.
In the ASA/NSA ranks, Reynolds achieved more than 400 wins and several top-10 national finishes, including one World Series Championship. He also served as a Club K Elite camp instructor and a member of the Advisory Staff for Worth Sports.
Reynolds enters the Trevecca Athletic Hall of Fame as one of the most successful coaches in Trevecca softball history and the coach who led the program to its first three NAIA National Tournament appearances, three consecutive Final Eight finishes, and two Final Five national runs.
