Trevecca Baseball | Win Streak Snapped at 7 as Harding Bats Hand TNU 15-5 Loss

MILLINGTON, Tenn.  Sometimes in sports, you run into a team that has their best day of the season. On Tuesday, that is what happened to the Trevecca Nazarene University baseball team.

The Trojans (20-7) watched as the Harding University Bisons (14-10) rapped out a season-high 20 hits in their game at USA Stadium in Millington, Tennessee, and the Bisons took their fourth straight neutral site win with a 15-5 defeat of Trevecca.

SERIES HISTORY/NOTES
The meeting was the first all-time between the Trojans and the Bisons.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Trevecca drew first blood in the contest. After Trojans' freshman Corbin Crosby set down the Bisons in order in the top of the first, Rylan Moses led off the bottom of the inning with a single. He was retired on a fielder's choice grounder from Caleb Webster, but Webster advanced to second on a single from Noah Boughton that put runners at first and second with only one away. Later in the inning, Cade Moore and Jaxson Christ smacked back-to-back two-out RBI singles and the Trojans took the 2-0 lead.

Harding got a run closer in the second, but the Trojans held the lead as Crosby fanned Bo Solley to end the inning. In the third, though, the Bisons broke through in a big way. Harding sent 11 men to the plate in the inning, and six of those batters came around to score as Harding surged to the 7-2 lead. The Bisons added three more in the fourth to push their lead all the way out to 10-2 before Trevecca was able to answer.

In the bottom of the fourth, Moses punched his second hit of the game, a bouncer back through the box that scored Landon Rogers and Drew Bradley to cut the deficit to 10-4. Trevecca threatened, but did not score in the fifth, but leading off the sixth frame, Alex Fernandez blasted a solo homer to left - his second round-tripper in his last three games - and the Trojans crept closer, now trailing only 10-5.

The Trojans did not get any closer though, as Harding pitching kept the Trevecca offense in check. The Bisons added a run in the eighth and four in the ninth, as Harding pulled away to the 15-5 win.
