NASHVILLE - Trevecca Nazarene University softball players Shay Hollingworth and Bailey Goad are the Gulf South Conference (GSC) Softball Player and Freshman of the Week, respectively, presented by Athletic Solutions, for the week ending, Sunday, February 9, 2026.

The Trojans opened the season hosting the 2026 Music City Invitational at Cedar Stone Park in Smyrna, and came away with a perfect 4-0 mark, with three games won by run rule in only five innings.

Additionally, Hollingsworth earned the Tennessee Sports Writer's Association (TSWA) Player of the Week.

Bailey Goad, a freshman from Mt. Juliet, Tenn., shined in the circle and at the plate in the wins over Ashland (2), Kentucky Wesleyan, and Tiffin. All three are teams the Trojans played regularly with they were all in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference.
The rookie was 2-0 in the circle with a 1.17 ERA, notched two complete games and a shutout, while tossing 19 strikeouts in 12 innings.

At the plate, the Donelson Christian Academy product had three multi-hit games as she went 5-for-10 (.500) with four RBI and scored seven times.

Goad posted a well-rounded performance in Trevecca's second game against Ashland, as she racked up nine strikeouts in the circle and surrendered just two hits in five innings, while offensively, she was 2-for-2 hitting and accounted for six of 15 runs as she drove in three and scored three.Â

Shay Hollingsworth, a native of Huron, Tenn., batted .769 (10-for-13) over the four games, the 5-foot-six sophomore produced four doubles, one triple, eight runs scored and seven RBI

The second baseman collected three hits with a triple and three runs scored in the season opening game on Friday against Ashland University and added two hits with a double in the second contest with the Eagles.

The Lexington (TN) High School product kept pace on Saturday, starting with a 3-for-3 game with three runs scored and three RBI in the day's first game versus Kentucky Wesleyan. In game two on Saturday, she registered two hits and two RBI against Tiffin University.

Trevecca hosts their first Gulf South games of the year on Saturday, Feb. 21 when Valdosta State visits at 1 PM with a game two start time slated for 3 PM. The series concludes on Sunday with a single game at 1:00 PM.
