NASHVILLE – The Trevecca Nazarene University baseball duo of Jonah Smithson and Rylan Moses were named the Gulf South Conference Pitcher and Freshman of the Week, respectively, for the week ending Sunday, Feb. 8, 2026. The honors were presented by Athletic Solutions.
Smithson, a senior from Gallatin, Tenn., earned his second win of the season, struck out nine and allowed no hits through five innings in the Trojans' 19-0 rout of Kentucky Wesleyan. The right-hander held KWC hitless and surrendered two walks while facing 18 batters.
Moses, a freshman from Portland, Tenn., helped lead the Trojans to a 2-1 series win over Kentucky Wesleyan, going 5-for-11 (.455) at the plate and driving in five runs. The rookie scored seven times, had two extra-base hits, drew one walk and went 2-for-2 in stolen bases.
In Saturday's doubleheader, the Goodpasture Christian product went 2-for-4 in each contest, doubling in both games, while posting a five-RBI effort in the series finale.
