Trevecca Baseball | Trojans' Offense Stirs; Hurricanes Defeat Trevecca

AMERICUS, Ga. – The 2026 season opening weekend continued on Saturday under adverse conditions for the Trevecca Nazarene University Baseball team. The Trojans continued their weekend set with the Georgia Southwestern State University Hurricanes, and with temps dipping below the freezing mark and sustained winds of 20 miles per hour, the Trojans were able to dent the scoreboard, but Trevecca was again unable to take the win.

Trevecca (0-2) plated six runs on Saturday, but the Trojans struggled to keep the Hurricanes (2-0) at bay, and Georgia Southwestern State took the win, again in seven innings, 16-6.

SERIES HISTORY/NOTES      
The series this weekend marks the first time in program history for the Trojans that they have battled the 'Canes.

HOW IT HAPPENED      
The game proceeded scoreless into the bottom of the third inning, but a bases clearing double with one away opened the scoring and set off a six-run frame for the Hurricanes. 

Judson Ceyanes picked up Trevecca's first RBI of the season in the top of the fourth frame when he drove home Noah Boughton, but it was the lone run of the frame. 

Georgia Southwestern plated four more in the bottom of the fourth to push the lead to 10-1, but from that point on, Trevecca started to generate more traffic on the bases and Trevecca cashed in five more runs. 

Nick Cook drew a bases loaded walk in the top of the fifth to drive in Miles Nelson. In the sixth, Nelson drove home Jacob Lester, and two batters later a wild pitch allowed Ceyanes to score as well. Ceyanes picked up his second RBI on a fielder's choice in the seventh, and Cook came home on another wild pitch, but that was all the offense Trevecca was able to find, as the Hurricanes took the game 16-6 to take the series win.
