Trevecca Baseball | Trojans Win Fifth Straight, Beat LMU

NASHVILLE – The Trevecca Nazarene University baseball team (13-19, 9-12 GSC) hosted Lincoln Memorial University (19-15, 9-9 SAC), for a non-conference game at Jackson Field on Tuesday afternoon.

The Trojans beat the Railsplitters, 9-4.

SERIES HISTORY/NOTES
Trevecca picked up its first win over LMU since 2018. The Railsplitters command a 10-3 all-time series advantage.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Despite surrendering a lead off walk, Trojan starter Ryan Sweeney retired the next three batters to quickly get out of the first. The offense behind Sweeney came just as swift. Cade Moore led off with a single and after a fly out, Joey Parliment smacked his team-most 11th home run of the season, making it 2-0 Trevecca. The Trojans tripled their lead in the second when Brett Dingess connected for a grand slam down the left field line. A two-out single from the Railsplitters plated their first run of the day before Trevecca responded with a pair of RBI singles to make it 8-1.

LMU got its second run of the day in the fourth off a double to right center field. A double play brought in another run for Trevecca in the seventh before two ground outs in the eighth scored the final two runs of the day for LMU. The Trojans shut the door in the ninth for a 9-4 win.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
* Brett Dingess went 1-4 with four RBI and a run scored off a grand slam.
* Joey Parliment was 2-4 with two RBI and two runs scored.
