NASHVILLE – The Trevecca Nazarene University baseball team (13-20, 9-12 GSC) took on Division I Belmont University (11-19, 2-4 MVC), in a non-conference game at E.S. Rose Park on Wednesday afternoon.
The Bruins beat the Trojans, 7-3 in seven innings.
SERIES HISTORY/NOTES
Belmont hold a 3-1 all-time series edge. Before today's meeting, the two teams had not played since the 2021 season.
HOW IT HAPPENED
After the first three Trojans flied out to all different directions in the top of the first, the Bruins exploded for a five-run frame, all with two outs. An RBI double followed by a bunt single plated two, before a three-run homer to left cleared the bases, making it 5-0 Belmont. The second inning saw back-to-back singles set the stage for a walk to load the bases. With two away,
Wyatt Bowling singled in a pair of runs for Trevecca. In the bottom of the third, Belmont added two more runs. A leadoff home run and a two-out single to left made it 7-2 in favor of the home team.
Just three over the minimum came to the plate from the fourth through the sixth, highlighted by a dinger in the fifth.
Cade Moore blasted a ball to left field for a solo home run, making it 7-3. The Trojans were retired in order in the sixth before the game was called due to weather with one out in the seventh.

NEXT ON THE DIAMOND
The Trojans homestand was shortened due to expected inclement weather in Nashville this weekend. Instead, Trevecca travels to the University of West Alabama (18-17, 11-10 GSC) for a three-game set beginning on Friday, April 4.
First pitch with the Tigers is set for 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Trojans and Tigers have never played in baseball before.
