PENSACOLA, Fla. – The Trevecca Nazarene University baseball team (6-12, 4-7 GSC) took on the University of West Florida in a doubleheader at Jim Spooner Field on Friday afternoon.
West Florida (12-8, 8-3 GSC) beat the Trojans 3-0 in the opener and then finished the day with a 12-1 win in game two.
SERIES HISTORY/NOTES
The Trojans and Argonauts had never met in baseball before today's doubleheader.
HOW IT HAPPENED
GAME ONE – UWF 3, TNU 0
Both offenses took some time to settle into the game. Trevecca collected five hits through the first three innings with nothing to show from it while West Florida found its groove in the bottom of the third. With two out and one on, an RBI double to left field gave the hosts their first run of the day. A leadoff double in the fourth by the Argonauts set up another run. A sac bunt followed by a fielder's choice made it 2-0. The next three frames featured just three combined hits for both sides before UWF plated its final run in the eighth. A one out sacrifice bunt put a runner in scoring position who was brought home off a single through the right side as the Trojans fell, 3-0.

Noah Boughton went 0-3 with a walk.

Luke Boswell (0-2) started and took the loss. He went 3.1innings in which he allowed two earned runs and five hits with no strikeouts.
GAME TWO – UWF 12, TNU 1
Unlike game one, the Argonaut bats came out hot. After a 1-2-3 trip for the Trojans, UWF put four across in the bottom of the first. A sac fly and a pair of singles plated four for UWF who added another run in the third off a single. Trevecca had just one hit through three innings. The game got out of hand in the fourth though after a three-run inning saw Trevecca staring at a 8-0 deficit. UWF added one more run in the fifth before
Cole McCallum broke up the shutout with a single to left center.
Wyatt Bowling scored on the play. UWF pushed its final three runs home in the sixth, though as the Trojans fell 12-1 in a shortened seven inning game.
