Trevecca Volleyball | 2024 Season Review; Trojans Reach GSC Postseason

NASHVILLE – The 2024 Trevecca Nazarene University volleyball team performed well in their first season in the Gulf South Conference.

FIRST GULF SOUTH SEASON

The volleyball Trojans made history as the first Purple and White team to host a Gulf South Conference postseason game. This milestone was achieved when the sixth-seeded Trojans welcomed the seventh-seeded Union University Bulldogs for the GSC Opening Round match on Tuesday, November 19, 2024 in Trojan Fieldhouse. The team's historic journey continued as they became the first TNU athletic team to win a Gulf South postseason game, defeating the Bulldogs in four sets.

With the win, the Emily Moore-coached Trojans advanced to the 2024 GSC Second Round, hosted by top-seed and No. 25 University of West Florida in Pensacola. Trevecca lost to third-seed Mississippi College in a match at the University of West Florida Fieldhouse.

The team opened Gulf South play by winning four of its first five games, three of which came on the road. Later, the Trojans made their postseason push, winning five of seven late in the regular season, including 3-0 sweeps in the final three. This was enough to earn the Trojans a spot in the GSC Championships and a home match in the opening round.

The Trojans collected six 3-0 sweeps on the year. Their first GSC sweep came on October 4, 2024, when they won 3-0 at West Alabama.

Trevecca's first season in the GSC brought several highlights and firsts. Six of those milestones came against longtime NAIA and TranSouth rival Union University.

The 2024 Bulldogs served as Trevecca's first Gulf South opponent, first victory, first road win, first series sweep, first postseason opponent, and first postseason win.

The series with the Bulldogs renewed one of the program's oldest rivalries. Trevecca and Union battled as conference foes in at least three conferences over the years.
