NASHVILLE - No. 12 Trevecca Nazarene University softball pitcher Ashlan Sensing is this week's Gulf South Conference Pitcher of the Week.
Sensing set two Trevecca career records on the week while leading team to two of the three wins in their first home series in the Gulf South. Trevecca swept visiting University of Montevallo.
Sensing pitched a complete game shutout in the game one of the series on Friday. The senior allowed two hits and no walks or hit-by-pitch and sat down six Falcons on strikes. She did have to pitch out of trouble due to defensive miscues that loaded the bases with no one out in the seventh. Sensing and the defense rebounded to retain the shutout and the win.
In her second appearance, game one of Saturday's doubleheader, Sensing benefited from a bottom of the first three-run homer from Brianna Asmondy and rolled to a five-inning 12-1 victory. Sensing added six more strikeouts and allowed four hits and one walk.
Sensing set the Trevecca NCAA DII era career appearances and career strikeouts records in the series.
No. 12 Trojans (14-4, 5-4 GSC) are at West Florida (14-6, 7-2 GSC) this weekend. They open the series with a doubleheader against the Argonauts on Friday at 1:00 PM. Saturday's single game starts at 1:00 PM.
