NASHVILLE – The Trevecca Nazarene University baseball team (11-19, 8-12 GSC) battled against Christian Brothers University (13-19, 4-16 GSC), at Jackson Field on Friday afternoon.
TNU beat CBU 10-5 in the opener and then finished the day with a 6-3 win in game two for the sweep.
SERIES HISTORY/NOTES
Before today's doubleheader, the two schools had never played before in baseball. Trevecca holds a 2-0 all-time series advantage.
HOW IT HAPPENED
GAME ONE – TNU 10, CBU 5
The 10-run game for the Trojans started in the first. An RBI single off the bat of
Cole McCallum plated the first run for Trevecca who scored in each of the first three frames. In the second,
Noah Boughton's RBI single started the three-run inning which was concluded with back-to-back sacrifice flies, making it 4-0 Trojans. After surrendering five runs in the top of the third,
Joey Parliment tied the game at 5-5 with a solo shot to lead off the bottom of the inning.
The fourth inning was the first in which Trevecca did not score before putting two across in the fifth behind a
Brady Maciak double and a
Luke Dymond RBI single. The sixth inning provided insurance runs for the Trojan bullpen when
Brett Dingess collected an RBI off a sacrifice fly and
Joey Parliment went yard again, this time a two-run shot.
Neither team scored in the final three innings as the Trojans held on for the 10-5 game.

Nick Judd (3-3) started and picked up the win. He pitched 5.1 innings and allowed fun runs on five hits with three walks. He fanned nine batters as well.
GAME TWO – TNU 6, CBU 3
Picking up where they left off in game one, the Trojans quickly took the lead in game two. With a
Brady Maciak two-run double to left field, Trevecca escaped the first with a 2-0 lead. The Buccaneers tied things up at 2-2 with a home run in the second before the Trojans took the lead for good with a two run third.
Brett Dingess hit a one-out home run before Maciak later singled in a run right center field.
Cade Moore's triple in the fourth provided the first insurance run of the game and
Frankie Carreras flied out to left in the fifth to give Trevecca a 6-2 advantage. CBU managed to get just one run back, a single down the left field line in the sixth as the side were retired on strikes in the seventh, giving the Trojans the 6-3 win.
