NASHVILLE – The Trevecca Nazarene University baseball team (9-19, 6-12 GSC) hosted Carson-Newman University (24-7, 13-2 SAC), for a non-conference game at Jackson Field on Wednesday afternoon.
The Trojans beat the Eagles, 7-3.
SERIES HISTORY/NOTES
Trevecca leveled the season series but CNU holds a 5-4 series advantage having beaten TNU 3-1 earlier this season.
HOW IT HAPPENED
TNU 7, CNU 3
After a scoreless opening inning, the Trojans punched first with a run off a fielder's choice. A one out single in the third tied things up at a run a piece before Trevecca exploded for a four-run fourth inning.
Cole McCallum homered down the left field line to recapture the lead before
Noah Boughton singled in a run to make it 3-1.
Josh Griffin's two-run shot made it 5-1 Trevecca and ultimately put the game out of reach. Trevecca extended their lead to 7-1 after consecutive at-bats yielded an RBI double and a groundout RBI. CNU got runs back in both the sixth inning off a balk, and a single in the seventh, but the Trojan bullpen closed the door for a 7-3 win.
