CLINTON, Miss. – The Trevecca Nazarene University baseball team (8-19, 6-12 GSC) closed up another Gulf South Conference series against Mississippi College (21-9, 13-5 GSC), at Frierson Field on Saturday afternoon.
Mississippi College beat the Trojans 12-4 in the opener and then finished the day with a 12-6 win in game two.
SERIES HISTORY/NOTES
Today's doubleheader concludes the first-ever series between the two schools. Mississippi College owns a 3-0 all-time series advantage.
HOW IT HAPPENED
GAME ONE – MC 12, TNU 4
A promising first inning ended with a single run for Trevecca.
Cole McCallum grounded out and brought in
Cade Moore who led the game off with a single to right center field. With one out in the bottom of the first, MC used a three-run homer to capture a lead it ultimately never surrendered. An RBI single and a sacrifice fly pushed things to 5-1 in favor of the hosts after the second. With two outs in the third, the Trojan bats did damage.
Brady Maciak singled in a runner before
Noah Boughton blasted a single down the right field line to make it a 5-4 game.
Another home run in the fourth, however, gave the Choctaws a 7-4 lead before both sides left a runner on base in the fifth. The Trojans were retired in order in the sixth before another run explosion from Mississippi College. A wild pitch, a single and another sacrifice fly all were responsible for runs as MC stretched its lead to 10-4 through six complete.
The Choctaws tacked on runs in both the seventh and eighth for insurance on their way to the 12-4 win, securing the series win as well in the process.

A leadoff homer set the tone before a single followed by a double and another single made it 5-1. A second home run stretched things to 7-1 Mississippi College before Trevecca came to the plate in the third. After a leadoff groundout,
Brett Dingess and
Joey Parliment singled to set up
Cole McCallum's three-run blast, pulling the Trojans within 7-4. A sac bunt and groundout in the bottom of the third, allowed MC to get a run back.
A scoreless fourth inning set the stage for the Choctaws to plate three in the fifth. A solo homer was preceded by a two-run shot to center field, making it an 11-4 game.
