NASHVILLE – The Trevecca Nazarene University baseball team (7-14, 5-9 GSC) welcomed Union University (10-13, 4-9 GSC) for a doubleheader at Jackson Field on Friday afternoon.
Union beat the Trojans 11-10 in the opener and then Trevecca finished the day with a 14-5 win in game two.
SERIES HISTORY/NOTES
Dating back to 2001, Trevecca commands a 27-20-1 advantage in the all-time series over the Bulldogs, including a 13-3-1 lead in the Division II era.
HOW IT HAPPENED
GAME ONE – UU 11, TNU 10
Game one featured 21 total runs, 18 of which were scored in the first four innings.
Joey Parliment scored first off a solo home run to left in the first. Trevecca plated three in the second off a sacrifice bunt, RBI single to right and a sacrifice fly. The Bulldogs exploded for a seven third inning highlighted by a two-run double and a two-run homer back-to-back. The Trojans punched right back in the home half of the inning with four of the first five batters smacking solo home runs to take an 8-7 lead.
Union pushed three more home in the fourth before Trevecca responded with a Parliment single in the fifth to make it 10-9. Both sides scored once in the sixth before the scoring halted. The game progressed quickly in the final three innings as the Trojans put the game-tying runner in scoring position in the ninth, but ultimately fell, 11-10.

Luke Boswell (0-3) started and took the loss. He went 2.2 innings in which he allowed seven earned runs and six hits with four strikeouts.
GAME TWO – TNU 14, UU 5
The Trojans wasted no time putting game two out of reach. A nine-run first inning in which all nine Trojans batted for a total of 13 plate appearances.
Joey Parliment's no-doubter was sent over the left field wall to culminate the nine-run frame. Union offered a sacrifice fly in the second which the Trojans later nullified off a
Cole McCallum RBI single in the fourth.
A run scoring double and single let two Bulldogs touch home in the fifth before another Trojan run explosion. This time the bottom of the sixth saw four runs come in.
Frankie Carreras joined
Joey Parliment in the three-run homer club by smacking a ball over to left field as well, making it 14-3. Union saw its only home run of the day come in the top of the seventh as Trevecca hung on for the 14-5 victory.

The Trojans and Bulldogs close up the three-game series on Sunday with first pitch set for 2:00 p.m.
Originally the three-game set was to follow a single game on Friday culminating in a Saturday doubleheader but had to be rearranged due to weather.
