JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – The Trevecca Nazarene University baseball team (2-4) played an unconventional doubleheader at the Silver Diamond Baseball Complex on the campus of Carson-Newman University on Saturday afternoon.
Trevecca took down the University of Charleston (0-3) 18-10 and finished up the day with a 3-1 loss to Carson-Newman (7-0)
SERIES HISTORY/NOTES
The Trojans and Golden Eagles had never met in baseball before today's games while CNU improved to 5-3 all-time versus Trevecca.
HOW IT HAPPENED – GAME ONE
With one out and two on in the top of the first,
Noah Boughton got the Trojans started with a bases clearing double to give Trevecca a 2-0 lead. The Golden Eagles managed to get one run back in the bottom of the first, though, with an RBI double of their own. Back-to-back doubles in the second plated three runs and the Trojans were back on top, 5-1.
After a quick third inning, Trevecca poured on four runs in the fourth. Two singles and two doubles brought in runs as every batter made a plate appearance in the frame. A two-run shot by UC made it 9-3 before the Trojans tacked on another run in the fifth.
Joey Parliment knocked a ball to right center field for a solo shot, his first of the season. UC tied it at 10-10 in the bottom of the fifth, though, as a grand slam and a home run, back-to-back plated seven in the frame.
A bases loaded walk in the sixth and a solo homer by
Abbott Lawrence in the seventh gave the Trojans a two-run cushion. Trevecca put the game out of reach in the ninth with a six-run frame, hanging on for the 18-10 victory.

Brady Maciak went 3-4 with three RBIs, four runs scored and a walk.

Luke Dymond was 2-3 with two walks, three runs scored and a team-high seven RBIs.

Brett Dingess went 2-5 with a walk, RBI and a run scored.

Logan Harrell (1-0) was the second reliver of the afternoon and earned the win. He stuck out two and allowed three hits in four innings of work.
HOW IT HAPPENED – GAME TWO
Game two of the day for the Trojans did not turn out as well. Carson-Newman tacked a run on the bottom of the third off an RBI double down the right field line before
Brett Dingess tied the game at a run a piece with a solo shot to left in the fourth. The Eagles plated two more in the seventh with two outs. A single followed by a double made it 3-1, a lead that Trevecca could not surmount. The Trojans pieced together just a single hit in the eighth and ninth in the loss.

Cole McCallum was 1-3 with a triple and had a hit-by-pitch.

Nick Judd (0-2) took the loss, his second of the season, in relief. He tossed three innings and allowed two runs and four hits with one strikeout.

The Trojans begin Gulf South Conference play next Friday, February 14 when they take on Auburn University Montgomery (2-4).
First pitch with AUM is set for 3:00 p.m. at the AUM Baseball Complex. The Warhawks command a 10-7 all-time advantage in the series since 2003.
