NASHVILLE - No. 12 Trevecca Nazarene University softball infielder Brianna Asmondy is this week's Tennessee Sports Writer's Association Player of the Week.

Asmondy also earned the Gulf South Conference and NFCA National Player of the Week honors after a historic #MASHVILLE performance at the plate in South Georgia over the weekend.

Asmondy, a junior from Springfield, Tenn., leads all NCAA Division II players in home runs on the season. She also leads the GSC in home runs (7), slugging % (.978), and is third in RBI (17).

On the week, Asmondy hit .556 (5-9) with five home runs and 10 RBI. She added five runs scored and also reached on a walk and twice reached on a hit-by-pitch. She had a 2.222 slugging percentage and a .667 on base percentage.

The Trojans, who won their first Gulf South series in school history, hit a total of nine home runs during the three-game road trip to Valdosta State and took two of three in South Georgia.

Asmondy hit at least one home run in each of the three games and hit three during the second game of Friday's double header.
Â
Asmondy, who was primarily a pitcher her first two seasons, has eight career home runs now.

Asmondy and the No. 12 Trojans are hosting their first Gulf South Conference series this weekend on the Hill. The Trojans welcome the University of Montevallo Friday at 3:00 PM for game one.
