Trevecca Women's Soccer | Ninth in 2024 GSC Preseason Poll; Three Trojans Make Newcomers Watchlist

BIRMINGHAM – The Trevecca Nazarene University women's soccer team is picked ninth of 13 teams in the 2024 Gulf South Conference (GSC) Preseason Coaches' Poll. A trio of Trojans made the league's newcomer watchlist, transfers Jordan Hellman and Maria Luiza Rochas in addition to freshman Tatum Mendel.

This is the first season for Trevecca athletics in the GSC, after spending their first 11 years in NCAA Division II athletics, as a charter member of the then new Great Midwest Athletic Conference.

Head coach Nathan Harrell is back on the Hill for a second season at Trevecca after spending the previous six years as the head coach at Emmanuel College.

West Florida is tabbed as heavy favorites in the 2024 Gulf South Conference Women's Soccer Preseason Coaches' Poll.

The poll and preseason team are voted for by GSC women's soccer head coaches, who are not allowed to vote for their own team or student-athletes.

The West Florida Argonauts collected 143 total points and 11 of the 13 first-place votes to top the poll after compiling a league-best 12-1 conference record a season ago.

Despite a national ranking of #12 in the preseason United Soccer Coaches Poll, Lee University was tabbed as second in the GSC with 129 points and two first-place votes. The Flames won the 2023 GSC tournament, 3-0 over the University of Montevallo who are picked fourth. Mississippi College collected 123 points for a third-place selection while former longtime NAIA rivals, Union University sit in fifth with 95 points.
