| 2017-2018 | February 2013 Update |
The department strives to exemplify the maxim of Christian | Scholar | Athlete.
Former athletic director Alan Smith, along with his coaches, made concerted effort to improve the overall grade point average and more so, to see every student-athlete receive their degree.
The athletic department grade point average at that time was 2.90 and immediately began to rise along with the percentage of student-athletes obtaining their degree.
When Brenda Patterson became the athletic director, she continued the push for academic support for the athletes, charging volleyball coach and senior woman administrator Jayme Crowley with the lead on a new program to supporting the academic success of the student-athletes. The overall grade point average and graduation success rate continued to improve across those years.
And now, Mark Elliott has continued the growth through several initiatives during his time as athletic director, partnering with both the coaches, student-athletes, and academic support from across the campus to continue the academic health across all teams. Emily Moore, now senior woman's administrator and volleyball coach, recruited and trained personnel from across the Trevecca campus to be academic liaisons for every team. They serve as another cross-check on grades, scheduling, and progress towards degree.
