TIFFIN, Ohio – The Trevecca Nazarene University STUNT team (15-5), the No. 1 seed at the 2024 Great Midwest Athletic Conference Championships, won the Pool B Finals, 19-2, on Friday over a familiar foe, Mercyhurst University (8-9), the No. 5 seed. It is the fourth win of the year for the Trojans over the Lakers.
The win sets up a championship featuring the No. 1 Trojans and the No. 2 Ashland Eagles.
A LOT ON THE LINE IN 2024 GREAT MIDWEST FINALS
The 2024 Great Midwest STUNT Championship comes down to the season rubber match between the top-seeded Trevecca Trojans (15-5) and the defending champion, Ashland University Eagles (14-6).
The top two G-MAC teams split their regular season meetings and shared the 2024 Great Midwest Regular Season title.
Now, it's all on the line with the final meeting determining the 2024 Great Midwest Champions and the claim on the season series.
The win also improves the chances for the winner to make the 2024 NCAA Division II STUNT National Championships field. The championships are scheduled for April 26-28 at Missouri Baptist University near St. Louis, Missouri. Trevecca is currently ranked No. 6 and Ashland No. 7. The top seven teams make the national championship field.
Ashland won the first meeting this year, in a game played at Tiffin University, 12-11. The second meeting, at the Trevecca hosted Music City Classic, went the way of the Trojans, 14-12.

TREVECCA VS MERCYHURST IN 2024
The Trojans, currently ranked No. 6 in the College STUNT National Poll, met Mercyhurst for the fourth time this season. In fact, the very first Trevecca STUNT game was against Mercyhurst on February 2, 2024. Trevecca won that first meeting 24-3 and then defeated the Lakers 22-3 in the second in a game played at Lake Erie. The last meeting was on Thursday in the second round of the Great Midwest Championships, Trevecca won that meeting 20-5.

THE START OF SOMETHING EXTRAORDINARY
The
Kelly Quigley led Trojans won their first seven games of the year. It wasn't until their eighth game, against defending G-MAC champion and No. 6 Ashland University, the team tasted its first loss as a program. It was a one-point, 12-11, loss against the preseason favorite Eagles. A game hosted by Tiffin University and the Heminger Center, site of the 2024 G-MAC Championships.
REGULAR SEASON GREAT MIDWEST CO-CHAMPIONS
That loss first loss proved to be the only loss TNU experienced in conference play. The Trojans finished in a tie with Ashland for the regular season title as both teams finished 9-1 and split their season series. When Trevecca avenged its lone conference loss to Ashland, a 14-12 win at the Music City Classic, the Trojans moved up to No. 6 in the national STUNT poll.
The Trojans and Eagles tied for the regular season Black Division and Hiram University won the Blue Division.
NCAA DIVISION II STUNT NATIONALS
There's a lot to be decided before bids to nationals are decided, but not many thought the new start Trojans would be in the discussion to advance to nationals in their first year. The top seven teams make nationals, and the 2024 nationals are hosted by Missouri Baptist University in Creve Coeur, Missouri April 26-28, 2024.
